I recently had the so called nav/mp3 update that allows my 05 to play Mp3's. Problem is some burnt Mp3's will play, others will play only about 2 seconds of a song then stop. At that point my radio controls wont work at all. I cant even eject the cd. After about 30 seconds the cd will eject. The same burnt Mp3 cd that wont play in my car, will play in my G35 (both Bose sound systems). I used the program "Nero" to burn the Mp3's that arent working correctly. The other Mp3's that do work in my car where burnt by a friend that used a different program than Nero. What could be going on?
I am all ears on this also. There is a post in the search that talks about using itunes to play the mp3. I tried it and it did not work to my sucess. I will keep up with this and try it again tonight.
I am finding on my upgraded stereo (w/in dash 6-CD player) that, if I fill up a CD with MP3 files (which should hold around 280 or so, depending on how large each file is), the first 150 or there abouts play just fine, then I start getting "skipping" on the last half of the files. Burning the CDs using Itunes on a Mac, and the radio seems to pick up the coding (song title and artist) just fine.
Anybody else experienced anything similar? Is the MP3 playback capability of the GM CD player just bad to begin with, or is this a common problem with MP3 car CD players in general?

Did you follow all the hints and suggestions about the id tags etc on your mp3 burn? I have the upgrade and havent had the problem you describe, but the id tags must be a version 1.0 in itunes. The player is also VERY sensitive to the number of letters in the song title and the album title. It took me a while to figure this out as some songs would just disappear in the c6 though they were on the cd in the computer and other cars.
I use Nero and haven't had any of the listed problems. I do have a problem where my MP3 discs sometimes stop playing when the nav lady speaks though. The nav locking up is indicative of it not being able to read the CD. Unfortunately it tries for a long time and if it can't read it, you can even turn the car off and leave the car and it will still be on and locked up for a while.
The best advice I can think of is to try a different brand CD-R/CD-RW disc. Some players just do better with certain brands and have trouble reading others.
From past experience with a previous MP3 head unit, burning the CDs using the ISO9660 standard made for more reliable recordings. (In Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, go to File -> CD Project Properties, and select ISO9660 under File System).

Good luck

The dealer did my upgrade, so the install was probably done incorrectly...LOL
It sounds to me like this problem is somewhat isolated since the greater majority of owners who have updated their radios are not having problems. That's only a guess but I think if more guys were having the problem described, the forum would be alive with threads.
If you're having problems, you might consider changing the brand of discs you're using. It really can make a difference! It can really be frustrating trying to get the right combination of burning software and the right disc. I had no success using Itunes as far as the titles and artist information is concerned. The songs were there but the display was terrible.
For me, my radio has worked perfectly since doing the update. I use Nero to burn my MP3 discs. I have Nero set to use ASCII characters which allows my song titles to be up to 31 characters in length and the artist name can be up to 27 characters. I have burned MP3 disc with up to 191 songs in 14 folders and every song title and aritist shows on screen perfectly. I also checked to make sure all the songs are actually there and they are. It took me about 4 days to play one disc from beginning to end (180 songs) and every single one played without a problem.
The following link has a ton of information on this subject. It cover the use of itunes, Nero, and more. Look at posting numbers 134, 128 and 124 for the specifics on setting up Nero. Good luck and keep after it! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...0&page=7&pp=20

From: Muncie, Indiana ...... Can I buy an amplifier on time ... I ani't got no money now but I'll pay you before I die
The brand of disc used plays a big part. The NAV unit doesn't cretin ones. There is a set maxumam number of files the NAV can read on one disc. Can't remember that number offhand.
