whats the point?

im a firm believer if your car is a street car, u run it in street trim. Street tires + how you run your car on the road.

I can take out all the weight in my car.. (ie seats, dash and so on) and make it run faster, but in reality once i slap everything back in, its going to run slower. Run how the car is going to be run on the street.

and some people dont want to do that so dont bother him about it. just because you run an 11.xx in "street trim" doesnt mean that this guy cant make a few mods and see if he can make his car faster. He will have a sense of pride in something he engineered if it is successful.

You are obviously a good driver and proved that with your times and i dont think that he is far off from running in the 11s in street trim either but he may not be happy with that.

i see no harm in what he is doing (unless he sucks a rock in )

I agree it does look like ****.

But if he is just tinkering I see no problem with that. Now if he were to enter his car into a car show with that system on it, well then thats different.

Well, the intake didnt work!!!....oh well, doesnt hurt to try. Was running real rich, so something was wrong. However, The Magnaflow mufflers alone netted 7.8 RWHP and 8.5 RWTQ. Then the tune added about 12 RWHP and 12 RWTQ...The numbers were 369.9 RWHP, and 364 RWTQ. I have found the limit of the runflats. The weather was perfect, and the car ran good, but the best I got was 12.26 @114.5 MPH. (the MPH drop was due to a raise in the rev limiter, so I was just barely shifting into 4th at the end, instead of a little further back, so it wasnt accelerating as fast) The major problem I began to have is traction in first gear. No matter how I launched, no matter what i did, it would roast the tires. Even when I bogged out of the hole, it began to spin at around 4000 rpm . The good news is the worst run without spinning was a 12.40@114, and had 3 other runs in the 12.30 range. Guess its time for some drag radials!

Well it was worth a try.

What are you going to do with all of that PVC pipe now?

daren, how do you know the intake didn't work? i would think with the hole that you cut there to creat a ram air for the intake would have help. it looks like you lost 1mph even with 20hp / tq gain, you think this is really the raise in shift point and not the weather? still a great et.

Daren, those are some interesting results. I think one problem might have been raising the rev limiter. The LS2 hp falls off at higher rpm. It could be that holding the revs higher was hurting you because of that.

Your et's are still damn good, even considering the new tune and the exhaust. It's easy to think 11's are in these cars once you run a 12.2. But realistically, with stock tires and such minor mods, 12.2's are still damn good. As you stated, the tires are your weak link now.

Congrats on the runs and on trying something different.

No, that was not a joke. But I think he probably made a mistake by using "Fruit of the Loom".

06C6FVR; Wait till the track and tires warm up, your traction problems with runflats will decrease, they hook pretty good above 80° air temp on a sticky track. Of course the ECM is pulling timing and running richer A/F at 80°+ so it's a trade off.
