I have purchased a kung fu fighting, well armed, potty trained trunk monkey. The ape comes from the wrong side of the tracks in Africa and is trained in martial arts. I purposefully leave my trunk popped a bit with some 5 dollar bills hanging out, since it is entertaining to watch the monkey leap out and thrash the bad guys.
I suggest we all let GM know we'd like that as an option on new Corvettes it is the best monkey money I have ever spent.
I also use the trunk monkey when the wife and I have arguements. This way I can take care of business with the wife and not miss anything important on the TV.
For some reason the trunk monkey I had in my 1983 Ford Grenada never got a workout and he soon got overweight and started smoking. He was eventually turned into cubed soup meat, sausage and monkey jerky.
I am just joking of course.... Monkey's that smoke make horrible jerky everyone knows that.
ROTFLMAO!
I don’t even bother to lock the doors on my Wrangler.
Any convertible is easy to get into. it's called a Buck knife.
I don't see the "window down,alarm on,things open" as a flaw,but rather convience/safety issue.
Just to ease everbody's mind. I don't leave my Vette open, and out of my sight, unless it's in my garage. That being said, I still see it as an oversight of the GM Engineering team.

The only oversight by the GM Engineering team was not requiring a minimal common sense test be taken and passed by prospective owners.

I have a C5 with a C6 on order and the last time I tried this in my C5 the hatch would not open!! I will try it in a few hours as I am to lazy to walk downstairs to the parking lot here at work.
1. Roll down the drivers window.
2. Get out and close the door.
3. Lock the door with the remote and wait for a little over 30 seconds.
4. Reach thru the open window and push the rear hatch/trunk release. (You may also want to try the gas cover release.)
When I did the above my rear hatch popped open and the alarm triggered.
I'd think that such a spendy car would disable all access switches that can allow someone to get into the car or storage area. If you ever leave your car with the top off/down and the windows open (a summer standard in some places), the alarm will sound but the things you hide in trunk/hatchback won't be very safe.
If your Vette does this too, please report it to GM. If they get enough complaints they might just reprogram the C6's to disable all door/hatch access when the doors lock.
Please don't do the flaming "You shouldn't leave to top off" comments. It's a security FLAW that I believe needs to get fixed.
Get the Shelby GT-500 as it comes with a very good alarm system with peremiter, sound sensors, motion detector all from the factory.

Just confirmed....with the doors locked the hatch will not open by reaching through the window and pressing the hatch release on the C5....Looks like GM missed this one on the C6 .
I think it was by design and done as a security feature. If you lock the car and disable all internal access buttons you also disable all ways to get out....
I dont see ANY value in selectively disabling only some buttons... what is it to stop a thief from reaching down and pulling the emergency release handle for the door... sorry but I dont see the need or issue with the way it works.. I say GM did it right
