1. Roll down the drivers window.
2. Get out and close the door.
3. Lock the door with the remote and wait for a little over 30 seconds.
4. Reach thru the open window and push the rear hatch/trunk release. (You may also want to try the gas cover release.)
When I did the above my rear hatch popped open and the alarm triggered.
I'd think that such a spendy car would disable all access switches that can allow someone to get into the car or storage area. If you ever leave your car with the top off/down and the windows open (a summer standard in some places), the alarm will sound but the things you hide in trunk/hatchback won't be very safe.
If your Vette does this too, please report it to GM. If they get enough complaints they might just reprogram the C6's to disable all door/hatch access when the doors lock.
Please don't do the flaming "You shouldn't leave to top off" comments. It's a security FLAW that I believe needs to get fixed.

i disagree it is a security flaw...since the owner left the window down, anything can be taken.....perhaps the owner doesn't want the thief to breaking the window in the process of stealing or something. if one doesn't want anything taken at least act like it with the window up....

If you leave the top off or window open anyone can just climb in or reach in and take what they want.
If you are going to leave the windows down, you might want to leave the key fob laying around so that they take everything including the car, then claim the insurance and replace a used car or upgrade to a Z06.
Sorry if this is a repost.

This is not a flame, just an observation.
That isn't a security flaw, I am sure it's by design. If you leave your windows down, top off, or top down it's your problem.
On a side note, crime is normally comitted because someone gives the perp an opportunity, if you do not leave the opportunity most criminals will just walk by.
I dont care where you live in todays world you need to roll the windows up and lock the doors. Get a window valet and lock up. I dont want them to reprogram mine. It is in the shop now for problems I dont need anything else to go wrong.
I just tried it and the hatch and gas door opened and the alarm went off. Not a big thing to me as I always lock the car with the windows up. If you leave the windows down the car is not locked.
My Firebird did the same thing. Since I often parked it with the t-tops off, and I didn't want someone to be able to take the 12 disk changer I had mounted in the trunk, I pulled the panel off and disconnected the switch. I don't think it's a serious issue, but it is something that owners should be aware of.
I guess I just don't get it. If you leave your top off and the windows down, you are allowing access to anything and everything in your car. Why would you care at that point if someone can open the hatch or not? You could get into the car through the open window/roof and reach back into the hatch and get anything you want anyway, even if you couldn't open the hatch!

Please, GM, don't make my vette any more complicated than it already is.
Get a Clifford Alarm installed with peremiter alarm, sound detection for window breakage, motion sensor and of course those pin switches-Problem solved. It also kills the ignition.

This is very true but at least you know you did your best to put in one of the best alarms to detour theft and vandalism. A perimeter alarm and glass breakage sound sensor along with other accessories is alot better than the stock system which is dependent on activating a pin switch.
I have purchased a kung fu fighting, well armed, potty trained trunk monkey. The ape comes from the wrong side of the tracks in Africa and is trained in martial arts. I purposefully leave my trunk popped a bit with some 5 dollar bills hanging out, since it is entertaining to watch the monkey leap out and thrash the bad guys.
I suggest we all let GM know we'd like that as an option on new Corvettes it is the best monkey money I have ever spent.
I also use the trunk monkey when the wife and I have arguements. This way I can take care of business with the wife and not miss anything important on the TV.
For some reason the trunk monkey I had in my 1983 Ford Grenada never got a workout and he soon got overweight and started smoking. He was eventually turned into cubed soup meat, sausage and monkey jerky.
I am just joking of course.... Monkey's that smoke make horrible jerky everyone knows that.
A friend of mine left his window down one day and a flock of birds made it their home and proceeded to coat the interior with a fecal matter. I suggest you consider rolling your windows up when you aren't around the car, you never know what could happen with an open vehicle.
