Default FSU Problem?

I've read the FAQ about the Fuel Sending Unit problem...sounds like my problem

Filled up my 05 C6 (10K miles) today w/premium Shell (as always).

Leaving the station, got the "Service Fuel System" DIC message and the gas gauge went to empty. It bounced around several times but usually read empty.

Then the engine light came on and has stayed on. However, after driving about 20 miles, my gauge now appears to be fine. Probably burned off a gallon.

Owners manual says engine light will go off after several restarts but I've restarted the engine about 5 or 6 times with no results. Maybe tomorrow?

For you that have had this problem, did it occur right after filling up? Is there some sort of cause and effect here...I mean, does the unit tend to go bad right at fill-up? Think this just a chance happening or will it continue?

Sorry wrong message. I thought this thread was related to why they didn't make it to the final four.

It's happened to a lot of us. If your C6 was built before approx. 4/1/05 it has the defective cards in it. Some members have been lucky and had not problems but most of us had to have the card replaced. Take it to the dealer and they will take care of it. My left tank was removed and the card replaced. It took about 5 hours. In addition it has nothing to do with the fuel you us, its a defective card.
