I would like to install permanent jacking pads in my new C6. Ecklers sells some black plactic ones advertized as permanent. Anyone had experience with these? Do they just snap in?
I have seen some anodized aluminum ones at other places but don't know if you can leave them in.
Eckler's rubber and Elite aluminum jacking pucks are not designed to be a permanent installation.
For that you would use BMW snap-in pucks.
Here's the Eckler's product I'm referring to. I don't see any mention of their being permanent:
"Corvette Jack Lifting Pucks, 1997-2005
4-Piece Set
A "Must Use" Item Before Lifting Your Corvette At Home Or At A Shop
Prevents Cracking Rocker Panels
Made Of 1-1/8" Thick Urethane To Clear The Lips Of Almost Every Jack
1/4 Turn Installation On Metal Twist Nut
Rocker panels are frequently broken on Corvettes for one simple reason, repair shops and at home enthusiasts jack up C5 and C6 Corvettes under the frame without the aid of jack lifting pucks. Consequently they crack the rocker panels and the panels are left to flop in the breeze. Replacement and painting of the panels can easily run over $200, however, by using our Corvette Jack Lifting Pucks you can eliminate this possibility all together. Simply carry the pucks with you in the car and give them to the shop or use them before working on your car. The pucks were intended to be used on C5 and C6 Corvettes and simply twist into position with a ¼ turn into your frame, it’s as simple as that. So be sure and get a set of Jack Lifting Pucks for your Corvette"

Some owners have reported cases of the Jacking Pucks vibrating loose and falling out. Someone posted some pic’s the other day of a set of Aluminum pucks that he modified by using toggle bolts so they remain in place permanently. They looked pretty cool and I considering doing that to mine rather then caring them around in the back hatch compartment.
Went to a local BMW dealer Sat. morning and bought four of their jack pads mentioned in an earlier thread here. They have "ears" that clip on the top side of the access hole when you push them through the body. Took about two minutes to install. Total cost with tax = $25.98. They will stay in at 100+ mph.

I've had these in place for about a month & they've been fine. Just be sure that if the saddle on your floor jack has "ears" or a flange, that they don't contact the lip on the rocker panel.
