Bought my C6 Z51 last friday and got it home. Drove it, loved it, put a few miles on it and went to the track. Went ahaead and started installing Vararam and man did I ever screw up. I was cutting the shroud and put a hole in AC Condensor. So I brought it into the shop and thats a nice $295 repair job. Plus there was a recall on the clutch and flywheel to be checked out, my car had to be taken apart for the check(Furious).Service advisor call me and says if you want exhaust nows the time. I tell him I have the headers sitting here at home just waiting to get the car back. He says bring em and I'll have them put on(Excellent). Called this morning everything is going smooth. It'll be ready early afternoon. Call back a minute ago and everything is on and now the service tech has to take everything apart again. Somehow the Master cylinder for the clutch is leaking. Can't believe it. The master cylinder if unhooked should just hook back up. They must have screwed something up. He told me the mechanic is pretty pissed right now. I Am too.

what exactly do you have to take apart to get at the master cylinder?

I thought that the master cylinder was what the clutch petal itself attached to.

Why didn't you just take the radiator shroud out to cut it?

I just ordered the Vararam with the pre-cut shroud. Hopefully I can avoid those pitfalls.

No its not that bad. Just got back from the shop and there is a nice puddle of clutch fluid under the car. They are going to replace the master, but need to take apart the from what I could tell the bellhousing to get to it. It doesn't look as easy as my f-body. On a brighter note the headers are done and the car is still quiet. They started it up and reved it a few times. Pretty stealth if you ask me. As for the AC Condensor. I was using an exacto nife and I was getiing the trim perfect since everything was fitted up nicely already. I like things looking good. My knife slipped as I was cutting and the next thing I see is freon(spelling) coming from the condensor.

I don't think you were stupid for cutting the shroud in the car as I too have a new condenser. Never would have happened if the template or instructions bore some resemblence to what needed to be done!
Vararam told me that they sent the wrong instructions out with the units. The precut shroud they sell bears no resemblence to what you get with the template!

Thanks for the nice replies. Yea we all make a few mistakes. I called my insurance company today and told them about the "rock" that hit my condinser and used my 0 deductable comp coverage to get my money back for the condensor. So I guess I got the condensor and header install for free. Sure hope they get that Master Cylinder Problem Fixed Tomm so I can see how the new power is in the car.

Cutting shroud??? Many of these intakes seem to me to be of such little more HP increase and not worth the hassle. Installed Halltech and it took ten minutes with no cutting. What some of us hp craving Corvette owners will do for those few extra ponies? I hope you get the car back soon. I would be a little upset as well.
