Has anyone replaced the BCM (Body Control Module) in their C6 themselves?
If the BCM is replaced, the shop manual says that it MUST be reprogrammed with the VIN and RPO's so that all features in the car work - and this has to be done with the TECH-2 tool at the dealer.
SO, I took the car to the dealer, they plugged in their TECH-2 and it read the VIN and all the RPO's instantly! They said the BCM was already programmed, how is this possible??
Did the BCM download the information from another computer in the car (ie. ECM)?

i'm just guessing but did he know the bcm was replaced ? did he connect to it or just the ecm. does the ecm talk to the bcm and check it's programming, etc. and provide that information to the ecm so if you queried the ecm it would tell you the bcm was blank ? did someone somehow put the old one back in ?

Yes, the shop knows that the bcm was replaced. The shop connected to the interface below the steering wheel, is this right?
They always connect there, but you can read info out of any module. Some new modules will pull information from others when replaced, but the manual is usually right. How do you know the BCM was replaced? Did you do this yourself? Is this an 06 and 06 shop manual? Did you check that the VIN matched?
