My new C6 will be here in 3 weeks. My salesman is going to install jack pucks for me BEFORE it is ever lifted at the dealer just for my peace of mind. I really like the idea of the BMW pucks becasue you can leave them in (and glue them if rattles are a concern).
I am concerned they are not tall enough to prevent the lip on the lift from still damaging the rocker panels. Are they tall enough? My dealers lift has upward turning lips on the outside edge.
The dealer has the GM metal pucks but I can't be sure they will use them unless I get the salesman to put mine in for me and draw attention to this issue BEFORE it is lifted.
The ELite Engineering Auminum pads look taller. Which should I use?
Actual Hockey pucks with screw eyes look like they would work. But I don't know if they are tall enough.
DOn't want to seem **** but I know this dealer has already damaged cars before. It all depends on the exact person lifting it whether it is the PDI person or a Service Tech. I feel I need to have my own pucks installed as it comes off the truck to prevent lift damage but I don't want to insult anyone either.
DO I just hope the GM pucks work fine and install mine at home?
I made the ones out of hockey pucks, but them I purchased BMW M3 lifting pads that fit perfect in the Corvette frame. About $15.00 for all four. They fit and look like they were made for the Corvette.
BMW has several heights avaibale, just work with the local BMW parts guy. I would give you the part number I bought, but can't find the receipt.
I also have the BMW pads... they snap in place and you can leave them on the car. Very low profile, so you don't even notice that they are there... and as mentioned above, they are very inexpensive!

Or go to Ebay, search for "corvette jacking pucks", a guy sells them ready made for less than $20.
I have them, they work great. I even forgot to take them off and drove about 100 miles, they didn't fall off.
I can't figure out why so many Corvette owners want to pay the "Corvette Tax" when it is not necessary. I use a set of these pucks and they work great. I've used them many times without any problem at all. You can make them yourself or pay the $20.00 or so to have them arrive at your door step ready to be used. If you want to do all the running around to get the pieces yourself, you can do that too.
Personally, I see no reason at all to leave them in place. In fact, I prefer not to leave them - I don't want to see anything hanging off the bottom of the frame. I keep them in the rear compartment so they are handy whenever and wherever I need them.
You can "double-deck" the hockey pucks with heavy duty mounting tape. Usually 1 puck is enough, but i keep 4 extras (total 8) in my car with the mounting tape already applied to the extras but the "exposed" side still has the protective film. If extra height is needed- clean the main puck, peel the film and press second puck in place.
