Default air induction

i'm awaiting delivery of new c6 in 3 weeks and would like to add a cold air induction kits as the 1st present for the new addition to our house. everyone seems to have a favorite one K&N. Halltech etc. I'm considering a Vararam "snakecharmer" as the one... Any hints, help, suggestions would be appreciated, i am 65 years old, just joined the forum in the last couple of hours, and this is my retirement gift to myself. Filthy answers would be funny, but clean air is what i'm looking for..........thanks

The Honker and the LPE are supposed to be good from what I have heard, I still haven't done one so can't give first hand info.

It depends if you want to cut the radiator shroud or not. The Haltech and the K&N are plug and play. The cold air units require cutting, but will gain more HP.

Have any of you guys with the Vararam driven it in the rain much and if so were there any moisture issues?

Vararam is a proven performance CAI. But I think you will find most of the others have a little higher build quality.

In general for a cold air intake there are two types. Ones that breath under hood air or breath ambient air from in front of the radiator. For the latter you have to cut your radiator shroud.

Under hood intakes generally just increase your air flow over stock. Intakes that breath in front of the radiator generally are the best performers.

Vararam is a little different, they put their intake in the slip stream, (ram air). Dirty word around here so I thought I would put it in italics. LOL.

Anyway hope that helps.
