Default Go with the Stinger from Halltech

Even Ed Potter@LPE says, independent tests of there CAI show improvement. They will not claim any HP increase. Cutting up your shroud isn't going to give you any great increase in power, no matter what the claims are. There's no ram effect unless you're going 300mph.
And the difference in air temp is maybe 2 Degrees. What you want is a good air filtration system that allows as much air as possible into your motor as you demands may grow. The Halltech and I'm sure the K&N system meet that requriement. I have a Halltech stinger in my car. I don't think the Halltech gave any more power, but it works well with my other mods.BTW with these air intakes you might get a lean code at idle both banks. It will set a SES light. If so you'll need programing to keep it from happening. Good luck with your selection.

Honker is the way to go mang. cutting the shroud DOES allow for a CAI effect and increased airflow. read through enough posts and find enough dyno sheets and you will notice that cars with LT headers that have no intake or a drop in are getting up to about 365 - 370 rwhp, on average. add in the CAI and that number climbs to 380-385 almost without fail. now, i dont pretend to know if installing the CAI alone will give 15-20whp...but it definitely couldnt hurt. particularly if you plan on opening up the entire breathing system later as part of your overall mod plan. *shrug*

I looked at how both were engineered and went with the LPE CAI. I think there is well more than a 2 degree difference in temp between the engine compartment and where the LPE CAI brings in air. This is a religious discussion here on the forum. You can barely see the LPE CAI in my avitar.

Good luck with whatever you decide on.

andreas g.; My car w/headers,hi-flo cats and mufflers Dyno'd 365.43RWHP, 361.84 RWTQ. After installing the LPE CAI it Dyno'd 378.61RWHP, 370.55 RWTQ. A 13.18RWHP gain. Same Dynojet 248, same operator, same SAE correction. I expect even more gain from true airflow with the car moving and hood closed instead of a fan in front of the radiator w/the hood open.

I don't know if the gain is from cooler air or increased flow but there is definitely a gain on my car with the LPE CAI.
