Default "Mods?"

It's always made me curious when a person adds, lets say,"Lloyds mats, license plate frame,or other "cosmetic" add-ons to thier vette, they reffer to them as mods!
I my opinion, mods are "modifications" to the engine,drivetrain,etc..
just wanted to put my 2 cents in!
thanks,george

You said it yourself; "mods" are short for "modifications". I think the things you listed above are borderline; I would call them accessories. But mods should not be limited to strictly power adders. Suspension, wheels/ tires, brakes, aero parts, etc. are all modifications to the factory specs, which are in turn "mods" you have done to the car.

But yeah, I agree, let's keep the plate frames and fuzzy dice in a separate category.

Thanks. "ETC" can mean a lot of things, just felt we needed to clarify. I agree with you 100%...

That's always been a sort of pet peeve for me as well...please don't have me opening up "I just modded my car" threads just to see your new chrome rear bumper lettering.

What!?!?!?! Those side vent screens don't count? LOL It makes me giggle to see the crap people post in the "tech" section. I just put a 403 in my C6 so I think I got the mod thing down.

RJ, till your sport some embroidered mats, I doubt your 403 counts you as modded. Get some nice seat covers and a chrome door sill, then maybe you're on your way.

....and please don't tell me you don't have a stock steering wheel and shifter ****.

I don't know you.

You modified the stock intake system by replacing it with an aftermarket unit for better performance. Mod, not accessory.

Wouldn't a mod that doesn't change performance just be a cosmetic change?

With a tune, it should increase performance. That's like saying a corsa exhaust or even a twin turbo kit that is not performing properly is an accessory.
