Default Traction Control Active

What's it feel like to you when you see "Traction Control Active" on the DIC?

I was going up on on-ramp today reasonably quickly, minding my own business, and hit about 6krpm in 2nd... grabbed 3rd and the car felt like it fell on its face. I glanced down and saw "Traction Control Active" and then what felt like a second or two later I got drive back in 3rd. This was a simple 2->3 shift. Not a race shift, not clutchless, nothing fancy...

It was somewhat intrustive... is that to be expected in the default AH/TC mode? It just caught me a little by surprise. Especially in a straight line at 60+mph when it's 65F outside.

Thanks.

In your shift you broke loose one or both of the rears - the AH then reduced fuel flow and/or some braking.

I have been able to break the rear loose up through 4th like that.

Yeah, I figured it was TC, though, not AH.

Does it really feel like the car fell on its face? Kind of reminded me of the old-style "hard" rev-limiters...

The TC system is very poor in extreme circumstances. You could have the car under control and seconds later, the cars systems decide to react. Which totally catches you offguard.

You're right - I said AH when I should have TC, unless of course you brought the rear end around but don't think you did or you would have said so.

And yes, if you are tach'ing it up, it feels like a moderate braking action sometimes.
