Default Load Capacity

my door sticker says that 387pounds(vert) is the maximum passenger + cargo weight, what happens if you go over the weight limit? how serious should this be taken??

PS, if serious, I heard that "stacker 2" is the most powerful fatburner, I already preordered two bottles from the local vitamin store and am having a tossed salad for the memorial day weekend BBQ.

Stopping distance increases and you loose suspension travel.

Mine says 423 pounds. That's just enough for my wife and I with an overnight bag. I guess when we go on our two week trip it will be overloaded. That's the way it goes.

can any permanent damage happen? i can manage a longer stopping distance and stiffer ride.
(but it does make for a great excuse for when you want to take the otherguy's car and leave the vette home).
have fun on the road trip.

Thanks, I hope to have a good time. I can't see how any damage will come of a few hundred pounds extra. If I was racing or driving hard maybe I could see it. This car is so over engineered for my typed of driving I expect it to last many years.

Hmmm...

Stiff suspension
Big engine
Big brakes

I don't see any problem. The max load may have something to do with fuel economy standards.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. I've been pretty far over the sticker weight limit (like 400 pounds over it) in my coupe several times. The car sits a little lower (but I raised mine to avoid constantly scraping, so I wind up at about stock height with the overload), accelerates a little slower, and maybe takes a few feet further to stop, but that's about it.
