Default Tunnel plate and headers?

I am about to pick up an Elite Engr. 3/8 tunnel plate. Did I read somewhere that there are clearance issues with the plate and long tube headers? Thanks!

I have the 3/8 coated plate and Kooks, no issues. I believe the issues were with LG's.

Thanks, Afterburn. Another question: Are your headers lower than stock pipes? My car is lowered and I've heard of clearance to ground issues with some of the headers. Anyone have Melrose with plate? Still not decided on which headers to get.

I have LG headers and the 3/8" plate. First off, it is a great combo. Nice rigidity and good oomph.

With the LG install, you use a hole saw and drill 2 - 1 1/2" holes in the plate and run the extension wires off the sensor above the tunnel plate. The holes allow clearance for the 02 sensors and the wires. The only trouble we encountered was drilling through the aluminum. It is quite tough. Also, the sensors are mounted at a crossing angle and the wires run through the oposite side. You have to remember to cross the wires back at the front of the plate.

also have the lg's and the 3/8 tunnel plate and good to go. you don't have to worrhy about drilling through the plate if you don't have any cats either!

also to your previous question - im lowered between 1.5-2inches and no problems (all though they do hang lower than the rest of the car)

Yes, and when I ordered mine from them they told me which one to order so I wouldn't have an issue. Elite was a class at to deal with.

Default ...extra long bolts

I'll be ordering my 3/8" tunnel plate from Elite tomorrow. Are longer bolts needed to install the plate or will the stock ones do the job? Thanks

I am curious about this also. And if anyone can tell us the thread diameter and pitch (metric, I assume) that would also be useful.

Default So I went to the Elite website . . .

. . . at http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/

to look for information on the screws. The installation instructions say to reuse the same 6mm (diameter) screws that you took out we you removed the OEM plate.

From Jeff/Elite:

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your message. Although some members have chosen to use longer 6mm bolts. I can assure you they are not needed.

The stock bolts have plenty of thread to completely thread all the way through the retaining nut that holds the plate in place.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Jeff

Yes, and the stock bolts are (36X) 6mm x 20mm long
