Looking to go with a mild cam that won't rape too much low end torque, but will be worth the swap from the stock cam. My tuner has suggested a custom 226/230 581/586 114 lsa.
That seems like a good cam for your goals. You would get better midrange torque response with a 112 LSA and less exhaust duration, but the 112 would also make the idle a little rougher.
Do you plan on adding headers? For stock manifolds, that would be a good mild cam. I'd go 228/228 114 if you plan on headers, for a 'mild' cam.
I have a 230/230 114 in my car, drivability is fine.
The cam you listed is a good street cam for these motors. With tunning it should ide well at 900rpms with a slight loop. By itself this cam will disapoint you. Any cam would. Cam alone does need some help to work at its' best. With that cam you need LT headers, a better air intake system, 160 stat, Cat back, yes and no, and some good tunning. With stock heads new duel spring are a must. There are many types that will work with the stock valve spring dia.. Remember cams don't work well without a way to get more air into the motor, and a better way to exit the gases.
1 7/8 kooks headers with x pipe and high flow cats, 180 thermo stat (tuners suggestions), tune, and springs. I need to be able to meet Tn emmisions which appears to be sniffer and odbII connection (ecm read).
Comments on the cam and the above mentioned mods? I am planning on asking why the 180 therm was suggested instead of the 160 which seems to be the more common.
