I have asked my dealer about changing trans fluid to Dexron 4 or RP. He said either would void the warranty
My mn6 does not shift smooth, but I have had a few problems with the trans, so I need the warranty.
Any thoughts?
There is a breakpoint in the C6 line as to which tranny fluid is required and I don't know exactly where it is. Please check your owner's manual for specific info. Early C6s required a tranny fluid meeting GM Dexron III standards, same as the C5. The AMSOIL ATF meets that standard and is what I use in my C5 Z06 and have been for years. Later C6s use Dexron VI (not 4). I am aware of no aftermarket alternatives to Dexron VI yet.
Complying with the owner's manual won't void your warranty, no matter what your dealer says. But, if your owner's manual specifies a Dexron VI for your car and RP doesn't meet this spec, then your dealer might be correct.

I'll check that out for the A-4 and the differential in manual. All I know is that it states no need to change unless there are leaks. I prefer Redline but don't know if it satisfies the Chev. specs.
Trans takes 4.1 quarts and rear takes 2 quarts..
I changed mine this last weekend and it shifts ALOT smoother...
also, funny thing so far is i am getting over 19mpg in the city compared to the usual 17mpg..
I don't know if yours is an auto but if so did you have to drop the transmission pan and change filter? If so is this very difficult?
