Just got my vette back from the dealer...so I washed it and zainoed it on Saturday. It was in the garage to put the zaino on, then pulled it out to clean the seats. Hopped in to put it back in the garage, hit the start button and it tried to turn over but stopped. Tried again and I got one click.
Put the trickle charger on it...came back several hours later and it started right up. Put it back in the garage, let it run, made sure the battery was charged. Shut down and left it for the night. Came back in the morning, tried it and it started right up. An hour later I was going to go to get some lunch and hit the start button...again one click...actually more like a clunk.
Checked the battery and it was down to 9 volts. Tested the battery using the specific gravity test and one cell was showing nothing. So...I went and bought a new optima red top, tossed that in...and...clunk. Tried trickle charging that...with 13.56 Volts...hit the starter, voltage drops to 10.56 with the clunk. Any subsequent attempts leaves the voltage at 10.56. If I leave the ignition on, I also get the service anti-lock brakes and service engine soon messages. All the connections are tight to the battery and I can't see anything else loose.
Any body have any suggestions? It's an '06 MN6...I'm guessing a bad starter or something along that lines...but... I've got an appointment to get it towed to the dealer in the morning...I'd like to avoid at least the tow if possible...
I feel for you. I guess this is why we should not run out and buy a new battery until the dealer has checked it out. It could be several things including the starter, solinoid, bad connection and so on. Let us know how it turns out.
Any leads? I've got a "no start" condition at this very moment, even though it's properly attached to my other vehicle via battery cables. It was completely dead (had to use the key to get in), with dead battery. Once hooked to cables the dash lit up, and the battery shows 12.5V. But, hit the start button and the dash goes dead, (the engine lights stays on), and not even a click....
Doesn't help I'm in the middle of a house move and need to get the car to the new house and out of my neighbors driveway!!!!

If the battery is very low the cables must be hooked up for awhile with the engine running on the donor car. Have the engine running a little over idle. When you first hook up the cables the voltage is going straight to the dead battery. Hope this helps.
