Default Cheatr cam

I want to install a cheatr cam on my ls2 and I just wanted to be sure of couple of things:

is installation easy?
how much rwhp should I expect?
(IDLE) some people say if you take it to the dealer they won't know that you installed the cam on, but I have one of my friend installed that cam and his car (LS1) sounds like he has a big cam (he has headers X and catback) i'm not sure if they have anything to do with the sound of the cam.
does it need a tune?

please educate me

It is not difficult to install, just time consuming if its your first time.
Need tuning? Probably not. Should be tuned, definitely. I have a much larger cam and have been driving it for 2 weeks untuned.

Also, why even risk to warranty issue? Either don't even bother putting in such a small cam, or do it right and go larger. If you void your warranty make it worth it. Rule of thumb...no matter what cam you put in there, you will wish it was bigger.

I have the Cheatr cam.... Love it!!! The car doesn't make a large peak power, but you will pick up power everywhere off idle and holds it in the higher rpms..... The car drives idels just like stock and pulls hard on the highway....

I have the Cheatr Cam on my C6 and it is exactly like stock and no one will know that a cam is in the car . So go ahead and add the cheatr cam

I added :
1) Cheatr Cam
2) Halltech Cold Air intake
3) Dynatech LT headers with high flow cats
4) Corsa Sport exhaust
5) 100 shot NOS

and on the dyno i got those results :
480.4 RWHP & 502.8 RWTQ

still the car is not TUNED !! I am waiting for the HP tuners update for my A6 .

Thanks .

It's easy to make more torque by putting in a bigger cam, but then you get all the traits that go along with that. The cheatr is a different route, much closer to a stock running and sounding car, and it give up some torque to accomplish that.

Most cams will shift the poer to the upper rpms...... I wanted something that would increase power from idle to redline.

The Cheatr cam is 215/232 117LSA...

Keep in mind, this was a mail order tune and I'm running rich... After the ported intake and dyno tune, I'm hoping for 450 with a crazy fat power band... This car runs much stronger thna the numbers suggest... I was able to hang on the rear 1/4 panel of a LPE 403 stroker putting down 468 to the wheels through 4 gears....

This is somewhat of a myth, sure, you lose it, but gain it back plus more very quickly.
Look at my before and after graph, I lost 10 lbs of torque at 3,000 but by 3,300 I was back at even and by 3,700 ganed 10. After the intake porting, the entire curve is above the before graph.
So yes, you do lose some torque but not a noticeable amout, if you don't believe me, drive my car, then tell me I lost low end torque.
That being said, the larger cams are made for the track where I'll spend all of my time over 4,000 rpm's. I have very little gain before that.
The smaller cams make power for the street. Both are very good, and people buy which one they prefer.

Dave

Ok, i need some education too. this is my first LS2. I have
Patriot Heads 2.055/1.60 Valves, Double Springs
Comp 231/237 .589/.595 112 Camshaft
ASP Under Drive Pulley
Haltech Stinger
Kooks 1 7/8 Headers, Off Road 3" X Pipe
B&B Bullet Exhaust, Quad tips

can that handle a nitrous shot of 50-100???? what is the max the ls2 stock block can handle without pushing it to much?

wtf is the point of that huge split on the ls2? the ls2 has great exhaust ports. wouldn't a 220/220 at 117LSA idle just as well?

because (215+232)/2 = 223.5. unless i'm wrong, a 223/223 should idle roughly like a 215/232 would.

btw for whoever was talking about the cheater cam not making torque ... that's due to the 117 LSA. if the LSA were down to 112 or 111, the car would make a ton more low end, but wouldn't idle like glass anymore.
