I would definitely change the engine oil to get those shavings out.
I would think it is the same with the rear end differential and the transmissions automatic or manual but haven't really got an definitive answer on these two components as my manual says not to do anything to them unless they leak.

Does anyone know what Chevrolet puts in from the factory is suppose to be a longer lasting fluid than whatever we can get on the market?

I'm wondering does GM put in some kind of special rear end synthetic 75W/90 gear oil in differential that is suppose to last longer than anything we can buy?

Same goes for transmission, I have an A-4 and it calls for regular non synthetic Dexron III H ATF fluid and it would seem to me that putting in a synthetic transmission fluid would be better or would it? Buying the fluid alone in synthetic would be about $150.00 just for the transmission roughly 12 quarts.

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!! The harder you break it in that better the car will run.....

I have had several LS powered cars (6 to be exact), the harder the break in the better it will run. I had a 2000 C5 that I babied from the start and it never really ran hard. My 2003 Z06 and my 2005 C6 have been driven hard from day one and they are always near the top of the dyno charts.

If you break it... that is what the warranty is for.

Now go drive that B#ich!!!!

I'm driving mine like I always will. I believe in the philosophy of break it in like you'll drive it. I kept the revs below 5000 for the first 50 miles or so. Can't help given it the gas. Sooooo much fun. But of Course always safe and sane one the street!

1,500 miles now, zero problems.
There is no break in, my warranty expires at 36,000 miles, not 36,500 miles.
Thats what Im talking about!!! I have driven each car the same way from day one and never had a problem with any.

The 75W/90 is plain old Mobil Synthetic.

Dexron III used to be Chevron Produced but I think its ExxonMobil now...

So then one would think you would be better off with a synthetic Trans fluid and any of the other synthetic 75W/90 gear oil like Redline or Amsoil.
Would you notice any differences in the automatic by switching to a synthetic fluid from the ATF DExron II (H)?
