5th gear pops out
Hello everyone,
I just got my vette last month ; 5th gear wont stay engaged for more than 30 seconds. Does anyone else have this problem? I haven't had a chance to take it to the shop yet.

I have not heard of that one. It sounds like poor shifter alignment or a bad synchro.

Did you change the shifter in the car???? May want to check alignment if you did or even if you didn't. If you have been banging the gears you may have loosened it up a little and pulled the shifter back just a notch. I did this when I changed my shifter and thought something was wrong and went back and had to align it again and put a good tighting on all the bolts, which I obviously had not the first time. If its not that then I would think you are having a syncro problem.

I agree with the other posts.
I would not delay on getting attention to this problem. Jumping out of gear only gets worse with use...I would avoid 5th gear until I could get it into the shop.

Thanks for the suggestions; I will be taking the car in hopefully in the next couple of weeks; the dealer is about an hour away so I have to set aside some time to head out there.
