With all the respect in the world for both of you old deck apes,
GM
Gentlemen (and I use the term loosely in at least one instance):
Please note that I was never a "Deck Ape" as I was (and am proud to state it) a SNIPE. The motto of the Engineering Department of USS Independence (CVA-62) was Horsepower equals Seapower.

(correction SNIPE for Ben) On completion with the SNIPE install , you run the risk of 6 speeds in reverse and 1 forward gear

Seriously - about a year ago, one CF member reported installing a B&M, took it out for a HURST. Was not happy with then installed a Calloway. He had lots of praise for the Calloway. After reading his posts and "hands on" @ Carlisle I went Calloway. Just do it Gary

Oh, I'm going to do it...I'm always about the bigger, better, deal. The money I save today goes toward the next mod tomorrow.

I've notices a little rattle but:

1. I never set the stops
2. I installed a MOMO shift boot with a metal ring that extends all the way to the **** and think that may be the cause.

I have 475+ rear wheel hp & my shifter/shift **** doesn't rattle at all - don't hesitate getting one, it's worth every penny.

Sincerely,

Lance

First, let me apologise for calling both you and Ben "deck apes". My father was a signalman in the Navy, and used to refer to himself and others as same. Unwilling as I am to drive mostly in reverse, Ben's engineering backround will not figure heavily in my install, should it occur. My short exposure to your Callaway shifter brought up the following questions: As short as the shifts are, do you notice you shift faster? Does this aid smoothness? I also notice that now you can get one to fit the stock ****, which I like.
You also mentioned setting stops. What does that entail? I'm still on the fence but leaning at a greater angle.
Thanks,
GM

Shorter throw = less travel & faster, also = less leverage and a tad harder.

It's crisp - less notchy feeling

I didn't like the Calloway Chrome Cue Ball. The lever that accepts the stock **** was not avail when I got mine. Went with a MOMO **** - it's

Does anyone have a picture of this shifter on a car?

Thanks.

As usual, the SWO doesn't know. Several mistakes in the sentence quoted here: (a) I am NOT a deck ape but rather a Snipe; (b) my knuckles only touch the ground when I bend over, and; (c) I admit that I can scratch my kneecaps when standing erect.

Nice pictures, John.
I can attest to the short, VERY positive throws in your car that I experienced at cruise in.
However, I may never hear the end of my mistake from Ben if you do not acknowlege his status as a SNIPE. I may have to buy you each a bottle of 25year old single malt to sedate you into reasonableness.

Gary,
No sweat. I took absolutely no offense. Thought it kinda actually. Ben will get over it. He complains about everything. Just give him a Nuggie after the next NOVA Event It will remind him of getting his butt kicked behind #2A Boiler
