Last week I was making a turn when the Reduced Engine Power came on and the car ran rough and couldn't hold an idle at all. I was low on gas and pulled in the next gas station and filled up. I started the car back up and all was well. Today at a light I was reving my engine and set the code off again with the same rough idle. I pulled over and shut the car down waited about a minute and started it up. Problem gone ! I tried to set it off again but no luck. What would cause this to be set off?
This has happened to me whenever I get it on real hard. It never happend before my mods, but after my mods, if I hit it hard and get the RPM's high enough, if the T C is not turn off, it happens. Did this happen to you immediately after hitting the T C off switch? What mods do you have?
The last time it happened to me I was rounding a corner and hit the T C off switch as I rounded. I got shut down even though I wasn't even pushing the motor real hard. Seems to me that I can only disengage the T C when I am at idle or at a steady, non aggressive, RPM range.
I have a procharger, headers, and magnaflows. I usallly drive around in comp mode but don't know for sure what mode I was in. The second time I was at a complete stop and just reving the engine up in the 5,000 rpm range. You said this happens to you when you get on it real hard. I hope you don't mean light to light or 1/4 mile runs.
Are you using HP Tuners?? If so, likely a P1514/P0068 is the problem commonly seen on FI cars running MAF due to the VE table maxing out at 1bar; under Engine/Diagnostics/General you can disable the P1514/ P0068 test by changing the enable RPM. Set the number just a bit higher than the (g/cyl) Cylinder Airmas you see at that load point. Setting them higher means that the ETC TPS check is not as stringent. You'll also want to disable the other P0121 etc. codes as well.
In the DTC list also disable the P0108 DTC by setting it to "3 - No Error Reported"

Good Stuff! Let us know how it works out for you. Myself and others have experience the DREADED "reduce engine power", what a PITA...I contacted HP Tuners directly and Chris has been very supportive.
It happened to me today, only this time I was already driving with my T C system turned off. Brabus2: thanks for the technical feedback. I will offer this thread to my new tuner. I made the mistake of using a tuner who was not very good after having my mods done. By the way, what is a HP Tuner? I am going to spring for a LS1 Edit with a LS2 update this time around and hope for the best. Who is the best tuner in So Cal as far as you are concerned?

Greetings Thomas Walters!
HP Tuners is a comprehensive tuning solution for your Gen IV and reasonably priced and more importantly great customer support. Is your tuner local in So Cal??
Being that your in Carlsbad, Sean R. at Orange County Corvette (Lake Forest) uses HP Tuners and I've heard/read good results from his tuning abilities. I can't say I've personally used his service, but speaking with him, my impressions are he's got years of tuning experience.
I've had great results with Charile at A&A Corvette as many have, very supportive and helpful that understands my needs and a good friend too...he knows the ins and outs of my car!!!
Doug that tunes out of LAPD comes highly recommended by Chris & Keith of HP Tuners, I have not used his service, but has extensive knowledge with the program software and shares tons of info at HP Tuner's discussion forum.

HP Tuner and LS2edit are tools, like a screwdriver or a wrench, for tuning the software in the car's computers (ECM and TCM). As with any tool, results are a function of the skills of the user of the tool.
Lots of people like HP Tuner software better simply because it makes the job of the tuner a bit easier with better displays and more convenient tuning controls. But the same results can be achieved with LS2edit.
As a customer of a tuner, let the tuner choose his tools. You needn't be concerned about what tools he uses. Just pay attention to the sort of results the particular tuner you choose has achieved with similar cars.
Thanks, guys. My new tuner already ordered LS2, so I am committed. Your feedback is invaluable and I look forward to getting the last of my mods finished. I am getting a gauge pod installed with the new tune and then I am finished with my Vette...I think.
I made the mistake of using West Coast Corvettes for my mods. I committed to them before even discovering this forum. Too bad for me.
West Coast Corvettes did a lousy install on my Pro Charger (I have already had to seek out assistance to get the unit re-installed correctly). They also offered me a lousy tune and some of the other mods required re-installation as well. Their customer service was ****-poor, they did not return e-mails and phone calls promptly and their attitude throughout my mod experience was abysmal.
Once all is said and done with San Diego Superchargers - my new mod vendor is correcting the last of WCC's install errors - I feel compelled to post a notice regarding how poor a job WCC did on my mods. Is it inappropriate to post such a thread, ie. nailing a vendor who did a lousy job with mods?
I only wish I had discovered this forum earlier as doing so would have saved me lots of time, effort, money and angst because I would have used a vendor other than WCC.
Thanks again!
