I'm looking at CAI's and Vararam is on the list. With that setup, what is the risk of hydrolock with the Vararam? I saw the Hurricane unit states that they have 'virtually' eliminated the chance of it.
Anybody have a comparison about the 2 units performance?

dont drive in puddles over 1 foot deep i went from 12.91 to 12.38
I just installed the new vararam and would find it hard to believe you can get that much water in there with out a freaky deep puddle. The unit is behind the grill...so you would have to hit a puddle that is deep enough for your whole nose to get underwater. Since it is out in front of the wheels (in the grill) normal splash from your wheels would not affect it.

I wouldn't have any concerns with the VaraRam unless I was driving in DEEP water. Kind of like what was shown in the link posted here a couple of weeks ago. The Weather Channel showed a C5 going pretty fast through deep water. I was like Water was splashing over the hood. Not something that I would want to do in a Corvette. Shouldn't be any problem with normal rain, puddles ect... I hydrolocked the motor in a Beretta GT years ago. I was following a car through a flooded street. The water started getting deep so I figured it would be best to pull into a gas station parking lot and then go around the rest. Well, the street dipped down before it went up into the lot so the nose went under. The motor sucked water in and was all done. Insurance bought another one. This can pretty much happen with anything if the water is deep enough.
