Default fast intake install question

If I bought the fast intake then purchased the Map Relocation kit and firewall modification kit from lingenfelter how hard is the install? I keep seeing people say how hard it is but I installed a new intake on my ls2 and it was very, very simple. So easy in fact that I thought about the LSX intake from fast. Is all the difficulty in cutting the firewall? Is that something that can be done with a dremel?

Thanks in advance from anyone that has done this.

if you have removed the stock one and can cut a rectanle with a dremel then you can install the fast. with parts listed and either ls1 fuel rails or bend the stock ls2 one. i think if you bend it you can mount it with bigger washers to the intake. the bolt patter for the ls1 and the ls2 fuel rails is diffrent. you also have to change the o-rings on the part of the injector going into the fast intake to ls1 size o-rings did the reseach just didn't pull the trigger

Thanks black05c6z51, do you have a place to find these ls1 o-rings? As for fuel rails do you think this setup would work?

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Pages/LS1NXL.htm

That would allow me to kill 2 birds with one stone.

What kind of time do you think this will take to install. The intake took me like an hour, and I was REALLY taking my time with the intake.

I've got the FAST and the kits. There are actually 3 kits that may help with the install - 1. the firewall mod kit; 2. the MAP relocation kit (which I'm not even sure you need); and 3. the fuel rail adapter kit.

Check out the "fuel rail adapter kit" in this link:

FAST Fuel Rail Adapter kit

This kit is FAST P/N 54026. It's in my garage at home (I was going to install my FAST intake this week, but I'm out of town), but as I recall it was only a few bucks. The main thing is 4 spacers that raise up the points where the LS2 fuel rails sit on and attach to the FAST intake. I think they are about 1/4 inch thick. I haven't done the install yet, but I understand you just spread the LS2 fuel rails apart slightly and it will attach to the FAST intake properly with that 54026 adapter kit.

Let us know if you find out something different!

well I wanted to go with the nitrous kit I linked in my last post. Since they were for ls1 I was hoping that someone would confirm what I think. That they would work. Second does anyone have a link to the o-ring gaskets I would need to use the ls2 fuel injectors?

I don't know anything about the nitrous kit, but like you say, if it was for the LS1 I would certainly think it would work on the FAST because the FAST LSX intake was developed for the LS1/LS6 before the LS2 ever came out. It fits on the LS2 with the firewall mod kit. Also, the 54026 kit is the fuel rail adapter kit to make the FAST LSX work with the LS2 engine.

This is directly from the description of the fuel rail adapter kit info:
"The kit includes a square fuel rail spacer, all new fasteners and a full set of LS2 injector adapters, either with or without O-rings, as requested by the customer."
So, I think the kit has the injector adapters you're looking for. Do a search for "54026" on eBay and you'll find the kit offered for sale at a buy-it-now price of $74.88 (sorry, I said in a previous post I thought I had paid only a few bucks).

Good luck,

Bob

Good luck! Yeah, I think that's a good deal. They're usually about $850, but I think mine was about what you're gonna pay and I thought that was okay when I got mine.

It's a lot more than just getting your OE intake ported, but if you're gonna do the nitrous thing, then the FAST already has the bosses for a real easy hookup of that system.

Let us know how the install goes. I'm going to try to get mine on next week.

I decided to go one step at a time, ill hook it up with my stock ls2 rails and go from there.

oh by the way I decided to get it ported and polished by tony over at AFR. He has a massive backlog of stuff to do but convinced me he can do quite a bit to the intake and port match it to thier AFR 205's and the P&P throttle body.

Cant wait to post the results but it will be 4-6 weeks, apparently the AFR's are made to order and they take awhile /shrug.

The dealer I use told me they wouldnt void my warranty for any bolt on items including intake manifold unless that part could be directly blamed for the failure. But I threw that out the window when I ordered the heads/cam lol.
