I have the American Racing long tube headers, fast cats with x-pipe.
I am installing on a 2006 MN6 Z51.
Anyone been there done that with this car?
I am told, the starter has to be loosened but not removed, the clutch linkage removed and teh harness on passenger side removed. Also, I am told to use the 1998 Corvette gasket for the metal shims.
Any advice from those who have done it would be appreciated.
I remember a member that installed headers and the clutch line was too close to the header and burnt a hole in it and caught the car on fire. It was a big mess and I think it was taken to the dealer for repair. I don't remember how it turned out. If you need help let me know.
Do a search on american racing headers. There was a post no more than two weeks ago that had a good write up on the install and addressed your questions. As I recall they didn't remove the starter, but did trim a plastic spacer with a dremel tool. You do have to remove the harness on the passenger side. The driver's side is the easier install. You can also get the dyna tech instructions from thier website, the install is very similar. I am also waiting on a set of the ARH headers. I have spoken to them directly and they told me if I have any questions during the install that I should just call them directly and they will help me out. It looks to be very straight forward.
