First thing I did to my 06 Coupe was to install a CAGS shift shift eliminator. $20 from one of the big Vette vendors. Worked great for 1,600m. Them my check engine light came on and stayed. Took the car to the dealer who said the diagnositic code was a power failure at the CAGS. Dealer said it was likely my skip shift eliminator. Sure enough we took off the eliminator and plugged the CAGS back in and the warning light was cleared.
So I am assuming my skip shift eliminator went bad some how. It's a pain if these don't even last 2,000 miles. Any one else with such an experience? Do these last? Maybe I got a lemon. I am temped to try it again.
The eliminator went bad. If you want you can make your own. Go to radio shack and buy a 2000 ohm resistor and either stick it into the skip-shift connector end or splice it into the harness.
I had the identical experience as you at almost to the exact mileage. I also bought my CAGS eliminator from one of the big Corvette vendors. Maybe we bought ours from the same vendor and they got a bad batch from their supplier.

I also had the dealer remove mine.
Have had a CAGS eliminator kit from similar source on my C6 that I transferred over from my 04 C5. No problems to date (11,500 miles on the C5 and 4700 on the C6).

I have one on my 02 Camaro SS for almost 5 years and 30K miles and had it on my 94 Z28 for 7 years and 39K. So thats 12 years and 69K miles and everything is fine. Never had a problem.
No flame intended, but if you guys would quit "granny" shifting, you'd never know that the CAGs was there. The PCM disables it at 20mph. (At least it has on my last 4 Corvettes)

You need to get a good quality CAGS elliminator. I got mine at Westcoast Corvette with more than 12000+ miles on it with no problem.

My granny would take issue with that statement!
You are right that the GAGS can be by passed with your right foot, but I got the bypass because I want to drive the car the way I want, and sometimes I just like to short shift and not have to worry about being forced to 4th...call me a granny shifter, I could care less...but at least I'm a happy camper now!!

Sent you an e-mail....basically it is on the drivers side of the transmission near the rear of the tranny. It also has a label on the wire....it says "Skip Shift"! Take another look and I'm sure you'll wonder how you missed it.
