Default When installing cutouts...

I am planning on installing electric cutouts very soon. 1 for the loud factor and 2 for the option for a nice quiet cruize if needed. The question is, where along the exhaust is ideal for installation? I know right after the headers would be brutal, but i want it loud!!!! But would farther down like after the h-pipe be more ideal? Just looking for suggestions and experience on where the optimal placement would be Thanks!

Thought I recently saw a thread where QuickTime Performance will be soon coming out with an exhaust w/ the cutouts already in it.

That would be a time-saver.

If you plan to do the work yourself, it's a lot easier to work at the straight section on the H-Pipe.....some attenuation from the cats, but shouldn't be that much. Also more room for the servos.

I wouldnt suggest doing cutouts, I had the QTP Electric ones on my SS and they both leaked, so much that I eventually cut them out and replaced it with straight pipes. When they are open they sound awesome, but when they are closed and leaking, sounds like you have metal cans in your exhaust

I would recommend installing them at the end of the h-pipe and right before the catback. This is a pretty straight piece of pipe and there is room for the electric cutout. Check out the DMH electric cutouts, they offer a four year replacement warranty!

What size piping should I get for the cut out? We have 2.5in exhaust right?
