I installed Hurst's new shifter for the C6 today! Notice how the handle has the same bend as the stocker. It also accepts the stock shift ****. Note the shaft is threaded to take after market (C5) shift ***** too. The Hurst is on the left.
There WAS a slight problem though. The threads for the screw that holds the stock **** in place were wrong for the screw. I could have used another screw but elected to re thread the hole and use the stock shifters screw.
Here's the stock shifter in the car.
Here's the Hurst. A bit beefier isn't it? I didn't use the Hurst's stop screws because the T56 tranny has its own internal shift stops.
The Hurst also has 2 sets of springs to adjust the stiffness of the neutral gate. I used the softest set of springs because I liked this setup best on the Hurst I had in my C5.
All done! Looks just like stock but way way better in my opinion. The shifts are clean, crisp, and positive. There is no noise or vibration. The "stick in a molasses jar" feel is gone. You'll never miss a 2nd to 3rd shift with this puppy.
How does it feel? I have a hurst in my C5 but it's really notchy. I like the way the stock C6 shifter feels but would like it a little notchy and shorter.
Thanks!
Is this a new model from Hurst? I've read previous reports from other members who found it too notchy and it vibrated. I thought the current "hot ticket" shifter was the Callaway?

The Hurst has a positive/sure feel. I suppose that's what some call notchy? At any rate, there is no vibration or noise from the shifter. I would think vibration would be caused by a transmission problem.
Just an observation, but will all the machine work this goes through..... wouldn't you think they'd put the correct thread on the screw hole? Wonder if they know?
