I am installing my vararam snake charmer tomorrow on my 2005 C6 and I saw a post recently that showed step by step install instructions can someone please forward to me. Also do you need to take the hood off when doing the install? Anyway if anyone in the bucks county area is bored as hell tomorrow and wants to give a hand or just steer me in the right direction please shoot me an email mikem@pennfab.com

You will be fine. Please remove the shroud before you cut it. It will take an extra 15 minutes but it's worth it.

I didn't remove my shroud, it took just minutes to cut it, it was a piece of cake. In fact the entire install is very easy.

Here's my write up and track results with pics.

imo, the install isn't all that difficult. no you don't need to remove the hood, just hope your back is up to the time and position, being stuck in that bent over position ain't getting easier on the ole back.

imo, the toughest part of the install is the mounting the lower 'scoop' piece. installing the support bracket isn't difficult but them darn screws that hold the scoop to the bracket. arrgghhhh.. otherwise it's pretty straight forward.

i don't know how you feel about modding mods but i removed the diffusor that was glued into the scoop when i installed mine.

I did mine last weekend. I used the precut shroud.
You might want to go to your local auto parts store and get some of theses. Retainers before you start. I cut mine off (did not have the tool to remove them) and put new retainers in during the reinstall.

You will not need them if you leave your shroud on and cut it.

I just installed mine on Wednesday. I ordered the pre-cut shroud and it was a serious pain to install. I thought I never was going to get the old one out. You have to lift the front of the car and pull the shroud out from underneath. But it's not as simple as the instructions made it seem. You really have to bend the nose out of the way to get the shroud thru there. I started to give up, sell it, and buy halltech or k&n style CAI. Luckily I persevered because I am happy with the final result.

I was going to take mine out the bottom but it was a real PITA.
With a little flexing of the shroud it came right out the top, I dont know why they said it would not. I should not of wasted time trying to take it out the bottom.

If you do decide to remove the shroud, it comes out the top. It is much easier to reinstall than remove so do not get discouraged if/when you remove it. You don't have to take it out to cut it, but it's a good safety measure. One slip and the AC condensor is trash. Just be careful, you'll be fine.

My install went great until I used my razor knife to cut the shroud...slipped and cut a nice hole in my ac condensor. That was a couple hundred bucks down the drain. SO take my advice. Get one thats precut or remove it and cut it.

if you take and slide a piece of plexiglass or sheetmetal between the shroud and the ac condenser before you cut its impossible to puncture it, thats what I did.
