Alot of time the dealerships are cool and might want to do the work,

but then there is always the GM Regional Rep they might send out to check before a high cost warranty repair.

My closest Chevy dealer is not mod friendly at all, but 4-5 miles up the road there is a much cooler service department

I bought mine at a local [13 miles away] dealership that sells about 200 Vettes a year. Their mechanics know their way around a Vette. I could've bought it for less somewhere else, but I was thinking of their attitude toward warrantee repairs.

No doubt the dealer wants to take care of repeat business. My servicing dealer has handled 11 different vehicles in 15 years for me. We don't have any dealership in WV that sells even 100 Vettes in a year. All dealers must have at least one Corvette Certified Tech to service the Vette.

Depending on the mods the car will not run on a stock tune.

There is a popular misconception that GM dealers do not want to do warranty repairs because they "don't make money" on them. We get covered very well for our work although we work from a Labor Time Guide and have restrictions on "other labor hours" if extra time is needed. The problematic areas are when your tech spends a few hours trying to diagnose a concern only to find a big blue "scotch-lock" squeezed into a data circuit where it shouldn't be. Then of course when we call Technical Assistance (for help on stubborn problems) the FIRST question they ask is "are there any aftermarket devices or equipment on the vehicle". I think the customer needs to advise us in advance if a non-GM component has been installed......as a Service Manager I have no problem with my people working on a modded car, but just don't surprise us. I think a good relationship with a dealer is the easiest way for all concerned, that way we have happy customers and our owners are satisfied with us. Now don't draw a big target on my chest because I'm a Service Manager but I'm just trying to give you my humble opinion. By the way....my 1935 Ford with an LS-1 engine has been "modded" like crazy.
