Default power adding and handling c6

I hate it that the c6zo6 has to be so darn expensive. I understand however that this car is set up for the power it puts to the pavement.

Do wider tires like those on the zo6 really help in handling and breaking compared to the standard c6 setup? Will adding 100+ to the c6 be a recepie for disaster. In other words, will all that added power just leave me spinning every time I hit the gas in the c6.
thanks

So how much does it cost to set up a c6 for 550+ hp? (bigger wheels, transmission, suspension, clutch, and other stuff I haven't thought of) I think lpe set up a c6 for the 405 rebuild for around $17,000 according to one article I read.

$17K would be basically engine only. I'm putting down over 550 flywheel (465rwhp) through my atuomatic...all it makes you do is drive better/pay more attention, but it has the potential to put adventurous drivers into bad situations. Just be aware that if you put another 100hp on a car that is already somewhat traction limited, you'll have to learn how to drive it well to get the benefit (down low anyway).

The LPE 403 is about $15K (then add exhaust and FAST intake, and you have over $17K. Suspension (go coil over) is in the $3000 arena installed. Wheels and tires depends on whether you want to blow money on wide body kits or just put wider tires on, which you can do (may stick out a little), so that's $3000 wheel/tire setup with cheaper repros, up to $4-5000 for a nice wheel (CCW, HRE), and if you go body kits, add $4-5000 for body parts and paint. Brakes can be done for $2000 or so.

How's that Z06 cost looking now? You may be able to get some cash from the parts you take off, but not much. I don't understand why anyone would go this route, unless they really want the targa top, or have to have an automatic...like me!

Good luck on the decision.
