Default APS Twin Turbo install finished

Picked up the car yesterday.

475 rwhp and just above 500 rwtq. This is at slightly under 5.5 psi with no adjustments to torque management. Yeah, could of had more, but Google Harry Reasoner and helicopter pilot and you'll better understand why I'm very happy with the tune

More boost and some torque management tweaking will have to wait on when a better transmission and diff/with brace go under it (hopefully this winter or early spring)

Impressions?
Starts, idles at 500 rpm with the air conditioning on, and drives like stock without any hint of the devil hiding under the thottle pedal. It is a little louder without the cats. Press the pedal down and ...HOLY &#*%
Didn't have too much opportunity to get on it on the way home (police were out in force on I-75, I-10 and hwy 231) but it is a completely different animal when the throttle is floored.
With a temperature of between 94 and 97 and stifling Florida humidity, oil pressure was 37-38 psi with temp varying between 218-223 degrees at 75 mph cruise. Water temp varied between 196 and 198 during the trip home with a few peaks of approximately 204 degrees in stop and go traffic.
A big and to Mike Norris, Tom Porter, Jeff, and the rest of the Next Level Performance crew for an install that looks like it came from the factory and for making me feel at home while I was there.

How long did the installation take? Also how much for everything?

Look in this thread to answer some of your questions:

Mine ended up being 6 days, but I'm sure that depends on whatever shop doing the install has going on.

Do you have zo6 wheels on that car? It looks like you have the 6 piston front z06 brakes on the car, so I'm wondering if you spaced the wheel out or installed the z wheels?

Thanks for all the compliments
Yes Z06 wheels and brakes. The wheels are stock Z06 offset so no need for spacers. The car is lowered - all the way down on stock bolts in the rear and somewhat down (but not full travel of the stock bolts) in the front. I do need to raise it just a little bit in the front as the rubber air dam scrapes quite a bit.

Yes it is insane...insanely fun

Default HEY Steve

See you had Mike and the gang do the TT install. I agree on your hp comments. I had them do a TT install on my 2000 Camaro SS. Car is running 5 lbs of boost. Mike said I could raise the boost but would be back and having a new block installed. Not to mention the infamous 10 bolt rear!!!

BUT when I put the pedal down the CAR IS GONE!!! and love the sound of WISSH between gear changes

Enjoy your ride.

You can run 8-10psi on a stock ls1 and not have a problem, I do not agree with them telling you 5.

Default Ya Think?

i've wondered if I could buy no cajones to try!
Maybe just before the new Camaro comes out I'll give it a shot. Until then I need a car to drive and I'm not in any hurry to install another block.

I would think twice about that statement on a 2000 LS1.

Not discounting your results and if you are happy then that is what matters. I just think that is a lot of $$$ to spend for 475/500, but then again I dont have that kind of money to mod so that has a large bearing on my point of view. LOL Congratualations!!!!!!!!

Thanks
Some thoughts:
Its probably important to point out that the use of much lower boost (and therefore lower final numbers) then APS provides for was by my choice. The combination certainly has room to grow as other people on the board have shown.

The APS kit is a first class piece of work. The finished installation looks like it rolled off the line at Bowling Green that way. That's not to say that Magnuson's/A&A's kits/ECS's/etc. kits look cobbled together. Far from it. For me it was a tough choice as to what system to get, I just decided that this was the way I wanted to go, and as you've pointed out, been very happy with NLP and APS.

The car behaves just like it was stock until you press down on the accelerator. While a heads/cam/headers/intake car could generate similar rwhp numbers (I believe the torque would be a little less) it would be a little harder to live with - especially with a stock converter.

We should all be very glad that we have a large number of options available to satisfy our addiction

Not a lot of money at all if you consider that for the money he spent, he has a setup that can produce 1000 HP, ...he is running what is deemed "safe" for his stock motor/ transmission, etc.

It's hands down the most potential for the $$$.
