How are the DIY guys lifting the car? I don't have access to a lift so I will have to jack the car up. Are you guys using ramps on the front and stands on the rear? Is there enough clearance for a garage floor install?

Make sure that you are on a flat concrete surface. Drive the car up on ramps first. Set parking brake & chock rear wheels. Place floor jack with 2x4 piece of wood on top by front cross member replace ramps with jack stands. Then lift the rear with a floor jack and a 2x4 piece of wood on top, place the rear two jack stands. When removing the jackstands make sure you drop the rear first and then replace the front jack stands with the ramps.

Be VERY CAREFUL doing this. Block the front tires if possible before lifting the rear with a floor jack after you do this. Years ago I was a second away from being impaled by the handle of a floor jack after I jacked the rear of a Camaro up when the front tires were on ramps. I drove the front onto the ramps, slid two jack stands under the back of the car. Did my thing and then took the stands out and lowered the car. Well, I couldn't pull the jack out because it was getting stuck under the muffler so I figured I'd jack it up again, slide one jackstand under to get the floor jack out and then pull that out from the other side. (Picture the front of the car up on ramps, me bending down in back of the car jacking it up and a garage door about 2 feet behind me) I started jackng up the rear again and then for some reason I glanced at my hand as I pulled the handle down. At this point, I don't even remember thinking. I just moved real fast to the left as the car came down off the ramps and the jack handle went through the garage door where I just was. It was so close that the shirt that I was wearing blew behind me as I moved... very fast. I had to pull that part of the shirt out from between the car and the garage door. I now don't have any doubts about there being a higher power or "someone" that can watch us because my mind didn't comprehend what was happening. It was just jack, jack, jack, run, bang, oh sh*t that was close! I had to go outside to lower the car because the rear was still up on the floor jack.
After that I triple check everything. Cars that go on a lift get a good shake after they are a foot in the air. A simple mistake or the car shifts alittle can really ruin your day. Hopefully this story will sink into some that work on their cars and maybe make a difference.
As for the origional question, yes, it can be done with ramps and jackstands. Just be careful.
Also, I haven't heard of any Corvettes failing inspection in MA with long tubes. It's usually all good as long as you have cats on the car.

mine is up on rhino ramps and two jackstands in the rear, as we speak.
yes, do be careful. when i pulled up onto the ramps, i set the emergency brake to keep it from rolling backwards, but uh. when you life the rear there ain't nothing that's gonna keep it from rolling backward if it ain't all the way up on the ramps. even then, lifting the rear, will cause the front to move on the ramps. just keep a good eye out.

Thanks..... I revised my original post. Any time you lift a car it is always better to check before you crawl under it. Even after you place jack stands it is always advisable to leave the floor jack set with the handle up and something such as a tire & rim under the car just in case it falls so there is always room to get out from under the car. You can never be to cautious
I used ramps in the front and then I put the back up on stands. I also used stands in the front as a safety precaution. Be very careful and safe, because if the car falls you'll be crushed. You might want to have a breaker bar handy for loosening bolts underneath if they are tight. It is difficult to get leverage on a tight bolt when you're laying on the ground with nothing to brace on.

WOW! Close one.
This reminds me of when I was younger and my mom almost walked in on me.
It was just jack, jack, jack, run, bang, oh sh*t that was close! .
When you have the front on ramps and jack the rear, the car actually rolls backwards as you lift the back end (does the same with car on floor too). I once had a car do about the same thing as his, although less dramatic, but it rolled right off the ramps as I was raising the back end.
Now I put the front on ramps and jack the front up and put the jackstands under before jacking the rear.

I jack up the front put the stands under the front
then jack up the rear put the stands under the read
Then make sure the car is perfectly level
Also as a precaution i put a spare rim and tir i have under the car when working on it
Dont get me wrong ,a lift is the way to go
I had every intention of PAYING someone to put them on
But they just did not come through
