Today I took off my headers, intake, bullets, etc and put the stock parts back. Now I have to admit I couldnt find all the parts so I cut a few corners just so I could get home as it was closing.
1. Where the CATs connect to the H-Pipe has only one bolt on each creating a pretty large leak (this is past both 02 sensors)
2. I did put the 02 sensors back in correct. To be honest their is only one way to do it......so long as you dont mix up Driver and Passenger senors.
3. The stock manifolds got a little rusty. I left them setting on the porch one day and it rained.
Ok here is my question I drove for about 3-4 miles without any CEL and when I stopped at a light the terror came....>CEL as bright as day. No message no stuttering just some smoke/fumes coming out from under the car from the leaking exhaust...
Could this leak be causing the CEL? I have never had one not even with the headers and accompanying parts were thrown on without any reflashing tuning etc.
HELP PLEASE I AM SUPPOSE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TOMMOROW FOR MY TRADE IN!!!!!
PS I am going to take it to Midas and have them put the other bolts on the exhaust to get rid of the leak. then Im going to head over to Caddy and have them run my codes and see whats up ...

what do you guys think I should do?
Take it to a muffler shop and fix the exhaust leak. About the CEL, just take it in for service and have the problem fixed under warranty since the car is back to stock.
Get the bolts and put the exhaust back together correctly. Then get a code reader and read the code/codes out. Maybe the O2 sensors got dirty from the rusty exhaust, but without a code reader you are screwed. You can also erase the codes when you pull into the dealer and hope it doesn't come right back on when they check the car out.
if its the leak and you fix it, the light 'should' go out after 3-5 start cycles. Your best bet is a code reader to reset it. I think they do it for free at autozone and napa. at least that would tell you what threw the code.
good luck. (hope I don't follow you to the bmw boards! ((from the 350z)) )
I can tell you from experience that an exhaust leak at the flange can definitely throw a code. Also, if either of your O2 sensors got contaminated in any way, such as if you accidentally touched one with a greasy hand, that can also result in a code.
Well I got it to "sound" like its all good. The dealership said the code wasnt a big deal .....so off it goes to the dealership
I wouldn't worrry about it anyway, the dealer will make money if they repair it since it's under warranty again. I swapped my cam back to stock a couple hours before I dropped it off. The thing was idleing high and there was still coolant and fluids smoking off the engine bay, it was a riot I didn't park close to the door

Leaking exhaust will throw code. You will be drawing in outsside air (I know it seems counter-intuitive, but believe it), and that will fool the sensor to thinking it is too lean, so you will go to pig rich once the car is up to temp.
