What's a good price for the 1 3/4 headers installed on my C6? I was also thinking of having them coated before installing them... anything thoughts if it's worth doing that first? Thanks...
I don't remember how much I paid for my Am. racing headers,I think around $1,200.00{1 7/8}
I also had Jet Hot do the coating,I'm sure it helps with the heat!
Good luck!
They are about 1500 direct from AHR, 1200 would be a steal especially if they were coated. You might catch a group buy, there was one recently, but it was still about 1500 bucks anyway. AHR told me not to coat them. I installed them myself, it was fairly easy, but it helps to have an extra set of hands. Plan on 4 to 5 hours. With the 500 bucks you save go get the car tuned.
I paid extra for the coating!
They are AWESOME headers!
Yes, they are cool, some fitment issues. I got the 1 3/4 from Andy, he was the only one that had them at the time. Coated and shipped to my door with tax, 1800.00 and change.
Was going to do the install myslef, BUT, went to Sean and the boys at Orange County Corvette in Irvine. 500.00 for install with tune. Worth every penny.
I paid extra for heat protection for the spark plug wires and taping the o2 sensors, and wrapping the oil and transmission lines WHICH RUN RIGHT NEXT TO THE COLLECTORS ON THE HEADERS. Very important.
After it was all done, I am real glad I chose Sean to do the work, as always, he saw things nobody else will care or want to see and correct, because he beleives the customer is King.

???Fitment issues?? I installed mine myself on the garage floor w/ the car on jackstands. No fitment issues that I found. Left side went right in, passenger side you just have to move a couple of things to get that one in. Easiest set of headers I`ve ever installed. You sure you just didn`t pay extra labor for supposed fitment issues??? I`m not saying thats the case but I actually installed my own and there were ZERO fitment issues.
Jet Hot coating will reduce the heat factor under the hood and under the car...
Stainless has much lower thermal conductivity than carbon steel, so the addition of Jet Hot on Stainless helps a little, but not enough to justify the cost.

No install was easy, it is that they sit right next to the oil and transmission lines, you have to bend them away a little and cover in thermal tape. They are metal lines , just a little paranoid about them being so lose to the collectors. Did you have same issue? Take a look at yours and let us know.
No, I didnt pay extra. Sean at Orange County Corvette is a top shelf guy and he and his crew only do first rate work. They do what it takes so you dont leave with any future problems.
Other than that, they are very nice headers indeed. The stainless stell is top qulaity and I like the welds. They appeared to be put together by folks who care.

They were very close and needed to be massaged away from the headers...Ie.. bent slightly away to give at least a half inch of clearance or more. This was very easy to do, only took about 5 extra minutes.

YUP. BTW, just so my buddy Sean doesnt get inundated with calls for the "500.00 install and tune special" let me qualify this.
I first had Sean tune my car after I installed a CAI. The tune alone was 500.00. It took about 6 hours (5 passses with cooldowns between) That set the car on her way.
THEN, he installed the headers for about 400.00 and charged 100.00 for the additional tuning to what was extensively done before. Still a HUGE bargain because, IMHO, he really cares about what is going on and wants to make sure it is all good.
He is a great guy, his tel number is 949-830-8388. ell him Ed Beyer sent you and he is worth the drive.
