That's odd that the factory installed block would use a more aggressive cam than the LS2 crate motor from GM Performance Parts. According to the Nov-06 issue of Vette magazine (pg.74), the crate motor is 200/203 .500/.500 (LSA not specified).

just another tidbit of info, the LS2 cam is the same as the '01 Z06 cam. Maybe they had a surplus after upgrading the cam in '02 Z06's

Most people assume the LS2 cam gives the same .525 lift for intake and exhaust valves as the 2001 LS6 cam, but according to "Engine Specifications" in the 2006 service manual, lobe lift is .306 & .305 in. respectively for intake and exhaust. Multiply that by the 1.7 rocker arm ratio and valve lift is .5202 in. for intake and .5185 in. for exhaust. I had assumed duration was 204 intake and 211 exhaust as is the '01 LS6, but was not able to find duration specs in the manual and therefor cannot verify those figures.

Is our LS2 cam the same as the 2001 LS6 cam? I suspect it is not. It might be a somewhat milder cam.

I must be missing something here but when I multiply by 1.7 I get .5627" and .5576" lift respectively. Seems to be pretty far away from .525" lift.

Must be a typo? From the 2005 service manual intake is 0.306 and exhaust is 0.305. Multiply by rocker ratio...

Marina Blue, can you double check that .

It is a typo. Your numbers, .306 & .305 X 1.7 give the valve lift figures I reported. The .331 and .328 figures are from the Z06 cam. I did not use the Z06 #s in my calculation even though they mistakenly appear in my post. Thanks for the heads-up correction which I will make on my original post.
