Default DTE rear end brace

I just ordered the DTE rear end brace for my 05 C6 along with a B&M shifter and 160 degree stat (I resisted as long as I could). I believe this is the beginnig stages of a mod sickness I have felt coming on for a while now. Anyway, has anyone out there installed one of these braces yet and if so, do you have any words of wisdom in regards to the install? I have a friend who has been bugging the bejesus out of me to take this car to the track to see what it will do, but I have been very nervous about tracking this car because of the know rear case weakness. So hopefully this will provide some protection versus running it stock.

You will have to lower the entire rear suspension and tranny/diff to install the brace. It isn't just a simple bolt-in. I installed mine when I installed the DTE Stage 3 rearend. Instructions are decent, it was simple to install with the rear suspension removed.

Tony,
I noticed that was stated on the DTE site as well and was wondering how far down I would need to lower the assembly as I do not want to take everything apart if I can get away with it. I appreciate the information.
How do you like the Stage 3 rear compared to stock? Did you do a gear change also?

the rear tranny would need to drop down as far as the torque tube touching the belly plate most likely. I was able to remove my diff with the setup dropped down that far, didn't have to remove the belly pan under the tranny tunnel at all.

I went with 3.90 gears, definitely more responsive with the blower and cam. With the stock gear, I was crossing the finish line in the 1/4 at only 5600 rpm. With this gear, I should be closer to 6500. Waiting for cool weather to arrive before I go back!

It was an easy install after all the suspension was out. Just follow the installation from DTE and it will be smooth.
