Is doing a tune like this worth it...
http://www.carolinaautomasters.com/gmtuning.php
In other words, does having something like the "Mini-tune" do anything to a factory setup or is this something for when you start adding mods to your car such as exhaust, headers, etc...
I was just curious if taking a stock setup in would get any improvements from such a process...
Thanks.

"Mini-Tune (off-dyno or mail order): $250
Remove torque management, change rear end gear ratio, raise rev limit or idle speed, fan temps, shift points, everything the handhelds do and more for a lot less! (upgrade to "standard tune" for $150)
Mini-Tune (with dyno assist): $300
"Mini" dyno tune for bolt-on cars. Yes, a dyno tune for less than a handheld! Dial in the Air/Fuel ratio and timing at WOT (wide open throttle), get all you can get out of your current combination. Limited dyno pulls, not recommended for modified cars requiring advanced dyno work, this option is really a mini-tune with dyno baseline, but that baseline will be used to dial in WOT. (upgrade to "standard tune" for $150) (Add $50 for nitrous testing)"
ok, not picking on anyone but since you asked for comments, here's mine, pobably not the most popular (my comments) but hey, they're mine, others have theirs.
concerning the mini-tune (off dyno or mail in);
torque management: not proven to apply to the c6. just because it is an avaliable option in the 'tuning' software does not mean it is used in the c6. the 'tuning' software is used for a variety of vehicles with a variety of options or features (4wd, awd, etc.). i have seen the 'help' file from some of the 'tuning' tools which state 'not all options apply to all vehicles'
there are multiple tm threads, some heated some not, on this board.
if that's all you're gonna have changed, imo, not worth it. however, it would be interesting to see what types of gains you would get if ONLY the TM limits were raised.
i'm not sure what good 'changing the rear end gear ratio' would do, unless you're also changing out the 'pumpkin'.
rev limit, idle speed, fans, shift points, etc. may be worth it but it's up too you.
concerning the mini-tune (with dyno assist):
adjusting the a/f ratio, timing, etc. is worth extra ponies, however, simply adjusting for wot isn't the best method. imo, it is preferred to 'tune' the complete rpm range. agreed, hard to do on a dyno.
please, please, no offense meant to anyone, just my personal thoughts and comments. my remarks are how I evaluate the benefits of said service.
