There IS some shifter noise/rattle under hard acceleration in second and third gears. I'm sure I can eliminate it if I ever get around to pulling out the console again. For now it isn't that big a deal.

What I did:
1. cut about a 3" X 3" piece of thin fabric from something like an old T-shirt. I cut mine from one of my old wife beater style Tees.
2. Remove your factory shift **** by removing the Allen Head bolt right below the top edge of the shifter boot.
3. Center and drape the piece of cloth you cut over the top of the shifter shaft and pull down the sides of the shaft, make sure it does not hang down far enough to cover the threaded hole for the Allen Bolt.
4. On the C6 shifter the flat part of the shaft should be pointed towards the dash of the car. There is also a keyway slot running vertically in the top threaded part of the shaft that faces the dash.
5. Pull all the loose fabric around and stuff as much as possible into the keyway slot so that there is a single layer of cloth around the shaft.
6. Keep your finger over the cloth that you have pushed into the slot and slowly push your stock shifter **** over the cloth and down. You will need to make sure you push all the way down so the bolt hole in the shifter **** lines up with the hole in the shaft.
7. Install and tighten the Allen Bolt and you are done.
Under normal driving, even if you are getting on it a little you should no longer hear the buzz.
the noise is from the stick under the ball/****??
sorry not quite sure what the sound is from.... tranny noise or stick/****.... thanks for your time....
i just changed my B&M to a Z06 shifter... easy to shift and no noise...
throw is about half way between stock and B&M.....
i liked the B&M but reverse (to hard to get it in gear) and the noise was just getting old......
if i can get rid of the noise i would put it back (mine made noise all the time under WOT)
the noise is from the stick under the ball/****?? Yes, the stock shifter **** has room to move on the B&M shaft. The top of your stock shifter **** is solid except for the small flat area that has an angled notch.
sorry not quite sure what the sound is from.... tranny noise or stick/****.... thanks for your time.... The tranny noise is being transmitted through the shifter shaft and because there is space you are also getting the buzzing noise. The cloth won't completely eliminate the buzz, but it makes a huge improvement to the point you only hear a very slight buzz at higher RPM's. If the radio is on even a t a low level you don't hear it at all.
