Default Flowmaster exhaust with headers?

I recently installed a flowmaster exhaust (dual tip) and am thinking of also installing headers with the x-pipe. My question is this.....

I know that as far as exhaust sound I could have gotten a much more aggresive sounding muffler. At the time I installed the exhuast it was all I could afford ($300). How will this flowmaster sound if I add some LG or Dynatech or American Racing headers with an X-pipe? I am really wanting a little more aggressive sound and a slight boost in HP and torque. I have read about the HP and torque gaines on the forum so I'm not really looking for advice on that as much as I am on the sound.

I do enjoy the sound and look of my flowmaster but am kinda feeling like I wasted some money buying it since I want a more aggresive sound.

Any and all comments are appreiciated.

I have had B&B bullets too loud bad drone
I have had GHL too quite
And now flowmaster quad tips!
Cant be it, There is no axleback or catback on the market that will make or can increase the tq and hp of a nice set of long tube headers.
Wakes the car up in 1ST, 2ND gear and sounds great just make sure you get highflow cats for smog reason for the future and for drone reasons.
I have Melrose long tube headers with Random tech. highflow cats with quad Flowmasters!
Combo you cant beat!

Adding the headers will make the exhaust sound a little louder and throatier, but if you're a long way off from where you want to be, you'll have to change the exhaust.

I think the Flowmasters are a great exhaust at a great price.

However, another Forum Member just installed headers with his Flowmaster catback and he is not very happy.
He complained of terrible drone.

Do a search.

I have Corsa Sports on my 2006, I am doing headers on 10/17, this is supposed to be a great combo because there is no drone and not overly LOUD, but...

Guess how I got my Corsa Sports used for $400 shipped?

I bought them from a guy who put on Long tube headers and he thought it was too loud.

What is tolerable for one person is too much for another.

My Bullets on my C6 Vert automatic droned too much for me.
I put on a Magnaflow catback instead and it has no drone and is pretty quiet.

But, then I read posts where people complain about the magnaflow catback droning???

I say, try it and see if you like it.

You can always go back to the stock catback or pick up an inexpensive used catback like I have done both times.

Magnaflow = $500
Corsa Sports = $400

I'm the un-happy guy with the FlowMasters and DynaTech headers. I first installed the headers, cats, and X-pipe. The change in the exhaust was barely noticeable. I wanted more, liked the look and price of the FlowMaster 17415's, so bought them and installed them. First, the fit was not that great. I had to cut 2' out of the mid-pipe of the DynaTech X-pipe to make them fit. Once They were installed, I loved the initial sound. Very throaty. That was in the garage. My first trip around the block, and I knew I'd made a mistake. The drone inside the cabin, between 1500 and 2000 rpm, is so horrendous that you cannot hear the radio at mid-volumn. With the 6-speed, this puts this rpm range smack in the criuse territory. Unless you're a gluton for punishment, and I know some of you are , then this is not the exhaust for you. I honestly think that over time, you'd damage your hearing........ or your sanity

Thanks for the reply guys. Actually I am really not having any problems with drone. Atleast it doesn't seem to bother me if there is. I just went to Eureka Springs and saw some great Vettes. I couple did have a new cam put in and sounded awsome. I just didn't know if the cheaper flowmaster would make much sense with cam and headers.

I guess what im saying is.....louder = better.....for me that is.
