Default CAI + Tune...?

Those of you with minor mods such as CAI, 160*, and a tune, was it worth it? I figure you're looking at roughly $1000+/- for just a CAI, 160*, and a good tune depending on what brand and if you do the install yourself or not. Was there a noticeable improvement in performance and driveability? Has anyone had any issues or warranty hassles? Right now I'm looking to stay pretty simple, so this would be as far as I would go at the moment. But for $1000+/- I want to make sure I can actually feel the difference. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Anything for the corvette is costly!
I would say a cai and a good tune would get you maybe 25 to 35rwhp!

PS,someone quoted me about $350.00 for shipping the hood, which I think is alot!

I noticed how much more mods are for the Vette than some other cars. So it really limits my goals. I guess that's a good thing though, according to my fiance'

Wow $350 is definately a lot. I think I'm going to pass on it anyway. If I change my mind I'll try you again if you still have it.

Thanks

I just put a vararam cai on and I do feel a noticable difference. Not a lot obviously but noticable. I am putting on Long Tube headers a 160 stat and a tune. I will hav a hard time justifying a tune without atleast doing headers as well. I figure $2500 is pretty good bang for what I'll get out of it.
Good Luck

You can do an Air-Charger, filter, tune and 160* stat for under a $1k and get some nice gains.

kObun -

I started out with a K&N aircharger intake (plus I cut a few cold air holes in the lower front airduct) and a Corsa catback.

The gains seem to be there as the car trapped 115.85 at Englishtown last Saturday.

It is going in to East Coast Supercharging on 10/17th for AR Headers, hi-flo catted midpipe, 160 stat, install and a tune for $2075.

If you want to stay under $1000 just get a K&N cai ($275 shipped), 160 stat installed is like $75, and a tune for around $300-$500 = $650-$850

You can even add a brand new Flowmaster exhaust for $500 installed if you want some sound = $1150-$1350 total.

I kind of like my path as it does not require a retune if you decide on headers which will save you from spending the money on a tune twice.

1- catback for sound installed = $565
2 - cai for performace = $272
3 - race car and get some times
4 - Headers, stat, tune = $2075
5 - race car again and see the improvements (hopefully)

$2912 total
