DOT 4 Brake fluid
What is the best DOT 4 Brake fluid to replace the DOT 3 before my NOV. 2 track day?
Here's a recent thread, from a better section to ask in...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ht=brake+fluid
It seems there is no "hands down" best, but the majority seems to lean towards the ATE.
now- do you guys change the fluid yourselves? and do you have any cool gadgets that make it easier, or that i would need to have? the last vehicle that i worked on myself (sad to say) was a '72 Olds cutlass. I'm a little nervous about doing anything to the vette.
Thanks again for your help-
That sounds like the way to go!The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Thanks in advance!

Thanx in advance,

They don't list the C6 in the fitment guide, but if you call or email them, they will tell you which part number is the correct fit.

The three most popular are:
ATE Super Blue
Motul 600
Castrol SRF.
Castrol is by far the best.
When you look at DOT 4 brake fluids look at the WET boiling point Not the DRY boiling point.
Why the wet? those are the minimal temps the brake fluid will hold up to when saturated with water. Water satuation is 2-4%. It takes all of 30 days after a fluid change for it to be come saturated. No if ands or buts. It will become saturated
This is why most races and guys who go to the track frequently change their brake fluid the day before and a few days before they hit the track.
With Castrols high WET boiling point only the calipers need to be bleed before easch track event.
PPl say Castrol is $70 a liter, Yes it is. THree years ago I did 17 track weekends and went though 20 liters of SUper blue. Two years ago I also did 17 weekends and went though 4 liters of Castrol. You can do the math.
I dont use the speed bleeders but a Motive pressure bleeder, a old plastic soda bottle with a tygon tube out the cap and a 10mm wrench,

2 rear driv side
3 front driv side
4 front driv side
Basically ,furthest from the master cylinder first.

"The size(s) that you need for your application is as follows:
Front....SB1010S - Rear.....SB1010S"
From Russell (part of Edelbrock):
"The part number I have listed for the ’06 Corvettes is 639560, front and rear. Thank you for using Edelbrock products."
So, take your choice. I will go with the stainless steel version from speedbleeder.com, since I am going to keep my car (and my 1984 C-10)
"forever."
