Default Cam recommendations?

I have a borla X pipe and Flowmaster mufflers with a haltech cold air intake and want to know what cams you guys recommend? There several different types and I dont know what the numbers mean? I am looking for more low end for the fast burst of acceleration. Are installs on cams expensive?

If you don't already have headers I would opt on getting those first. Cam installation is about $2500 including all necessary parts.

Here is a link to a thread in another forum, will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about cams.

They don't have to be that expensive. You can pick up a cam for $250 or so, springs for another $150 or so, pushrods for even less. Here's a sample ad, took me less than 10 seconds to find it.

The install and tune is where you will spend some $$$, unless you're handy with a wrench.

Stick with a fairly mild cam, one that suits your mods. Don't go too big just because you can, or because your buddy had something similar. Consider whether you have to pass an emissions test, how many miles you drive each year, and how willing you are to sacrifice gas mileage and driveability for more power.

I would stay at or below anything 228/232 with .605 lift or lower....much above that you will loose lower end torque and only benefit higher rpm power and might risk drivability issues in low rpm situations.
