Sorry, a play on words. I am chomping at the bit to get some headers for my C6 A6 06, but I wan tot make sure I got it right. I've narrowed it down to 2: LG Longtubes Pro and Corvettes of Houston's Headers.Heres the skinny, they both have the mid pipes and cats, which I need for inspections, they both have the same dimentions and the only difference I can see on paper is that the COH headers are jet coated in and out and the LG doesn't seem to be.There's a $200.00 difference, the cheaper being COH and with either I'd slap the Borla Stinger exhaust on it.Has anyone used the COH headers or know if there is a performance difference. I like LG and his Co and have doen biz with them before, but like I said, I don't want to be swapping out 6 months from now and listing pipes on ebay no matter which way I go.by the way, If there is any deals on any of these items out there, I'm in right now.....
The Corvettes of Houston headers are probably made by Melrose, come with Random Technology cats. While they are fine headers, the primary tubes are not as long as the LG's, so you may not see as much TQ gains.
I bought the 1-7/8" American Racing Headers with the x-pipe and high-flow cats. I heard that they are the only headers that have a special race collector for better flow. Can anyone validate?

Not sure on this, but I have heard that melrose are not stainless steel. Personally I went with American Racing headers which are stainless steel no jet hot coating required. They can be purchased for about 1500 including the hi flow cats and o2 extensions. Do a search headers have been muched discussed on the forum.

The AR headers have a collector of their own design, and they claim certain benefits from it. LG headers have a merge collector, for which they claim certain benefits. These collectors are more expensive to fabricate, which is why you don't see them on all brands.
Re the Melrose headers, yes they are mild steel, Jet Hot coated. Kooks, LG's, Dynatech's, and AR are made of stainless steel, and are uncoated. Some folks prefer coated headers, others prefer stainless. There are pros and cons to both. I had Jet Hot coated headers on my C5, now have LG stainless headers on my C6. IMHO, it's a coin toss.
I am going to make another comment on header cat back choice. I see you have the A6 tranny. You have to be careful if you are at all sensitive to drone in the exhaust.
Corsa has a special catback for the A6 but it would not fit with the LGs and xpipe, so I went with the standard Corsa sport. It still drones a little.
I heard Kooks has a special header and xpipe that will fit with the Corsa A6 catback. I would be tempted to look into this if I were doing it over.
I went with LG Pro long tubes and had them coated. Mated to the LPE 403 and Corsa Sports....it's an awesome combination. FWIW, others that I consider extremely knowledgeable (and familiar with many makes of exhaust) told me Borla exhausts are susceptible to drone. IMO the LGM headers were well worth the money.
The C6 LG's are cake to install if you do it yourself. Since Borla makes the whole package they make the correct muff set up also with no extra fabing to mate like the Corsas. The Touring muffs are very quiet. The Sport are Stingers and sound awsome. But make sure you tell whom ever you order them from that you have an A6. They cost a bit more cuz of the piping.
