Cam decisions
I am looking at the comp 224/228 .581/.588 @ 114, the car is a weekend driver and we do a lot of road trips with our club, is there much to be gained by going with a little larger cam than this? The car is @ 378 rwhp now before the polished intake or TB, I am hoping for 415-420 rwhp.
Thanks for any input.

With that cam, you can run Comp Cams "918" single springs, & 7.4" hardened pushrods. Unless you plan a lot of track time, you don't need the titanium retainers or any special lifters. Because of the relatively high lift from the XE-R grind, you might get a slight increase in valvetrain noise (sewing machine sound), maybe not.
Enjoy!

Thanks !
What is the average cost for a cam, installation, and tune?
I am thinking somewhere in the range of $2000-$2500, mostly labor costs.

Amazing how docile that cam sounds.

How does your cam feel down low, it sounds a little choppy pulling away.
Do you feel any hesitaton at part throttle down low?
Sounds great though!
I don't want to HIJACK the thread, but....
Are there any gains to be had by leaving the STOCK cam, but changing out the heads?
You know what, I'll start a new thread on this.
Don't respond here.

Thanks, for all the info you really know your stuff. I have not installed a cam in over 20 years a lot has changed, the last cam I had in a car was my 64 corvette with the old 30-30 solid lifter cam, loved it!
