Default Lingenfelter or Callaway?

I am considering bumping up the Horsepower on my C6 Z51.

Is there a difference in the quality of work between these 2 engine builders?

Does one have a better reputation or better name when it comes time to sell my car?

I havn't had experience with either company, however I've been reading about their work since way before I could even afford a Corvette. I don't think you'll find two more well respected, top quality builders on the planet. I believe they are both capable of completely transforming your C6 into a monster. I think they have slightly different ways to go about the build so research and pick one that is to your liking. Also check out the warranty info. I believe Callaway just improved their warranty to match GMs. As far as resale goes. Don't mod to make money on the sale. You'll find that you'll get nowhere near what you put into it. It's a very small niche in the aftremarket resale game. Mod for your enjoyment, not for the next owners. You really can't go wrong with either one though.

Default Lingenfelter

My choice is clear. In Dallas there is a Callaway and a Lingenfelter dealer. I had a choice and chose Lingenfelter. I have had hot rods and built cars for almost 40 years and I have never come across a performance shop that had a higher quality standard than 21st Century Muscle Cars (Lingenfelter). 21CMC Techs (mechanics) are top notch and GM Certtified.

21CMC owner John Page is an honest an upstanding person that will give you the real skinny not just sell you parts. He has called BS on me more than once when I wanted to do something crazy to my car even though he would have made money on the mods.

I do not think you will be disappointed with the quality or power from Lingenfelter

My choice time and time again is Callaway Cars

I have now owned three of their magnificent cars which have lived up to my expectations - and in some regards, beyond.

My cars have power, style, drivability, emissions compliance (big deal in my area), and more power

The one has lasted over 60k mi w/ out any major issues - the one time I did need service, Callaway Cars stood right there and took care of my issue, no questions asked! With the new warranty for 5/100, it is a no-brainer, as NOBODY else offers that for you

As stated in post #2, there are some philosiphies that may differ between the companies ...a different approach, if you will.

I used to have a Trans Am with an LPE crate engine. I bought it to go fast, really fast! It too did what it was sold to me to do - go quickly in a straight line, period.

When I went to sell it, I was a bit put off by the fact I could not get any support or specs on the engine. Not a huge deal, as I found a buyer who knew the car and got about 35%-40% of my "mod money" returned over time.

I know I could sell my Callaways without that issue, as the company maintains a database of all the Corvettes they have constructed over the past 20 years.

I have had the unique experience of owning products from both places - my money continues to head north, to Old Lyme

You cannot go wrong with either choice. I used LPE for my SC C5, and will use them again in all liklihood. Reeves Callaway and John Lingenfelter are/were legends.

I weighed out LPE and Callaway when I picked up my C6. Just like another poster, I'd been reading about both well before I could buy my first Corvette. I don't think you will go wrong with either. Both are top notch tuners.

Personally I chose LPE. They have turned out phenominal Corvettes for years and years. They seem to always be out there on the leading edge in building high horsepower applications... and the name carries alot of weight with the Corvette faithful.

Good luck in your decision.

I'd go w/CALLAWAY just because of location.I'm in NY they're in CT.If I lived in whatever place LPE is in,I'd got with them. Both are fine!

Thanks for your reply.

I checked the web site.

Does $10,000 include install?

I have no interest or ability to do this myself.

How does your car run after this work?
Does it idle smooth?
Does it run smooth on the highway at regular cruising speed?
Does it run hot?
Where did you get the work done? You live in Dubai.
I live in Canada, but I have no problem shipping to the USA to get this work done.

I'm guessing that 560hp is at the wheels, but in case we're talking hp at the flywheel... for what it's worth, Lingenfelter's supercharged package is $11,400 installed, with hood (I think Callaway prices roughly the same). I had LPE add a Corsa exhaust. With 5.5 pounds of boost I hit 562 hp (478 wheels) and 520 torque (442 wheels). I've been thinking about upping the boost to 7.5, hoping to see 600 hp with the pulley change.

Good luck - it's a nice decision to have to make... Lingenfelter or Callaway.

Callaway has an excellent reputation but for my money, I went with Lingenfelter (IMO the 'gold standard' for Corvette performance). My LPE 403 (and other mods) were done at 21st Century Muscle Cars in Dallas. They were great to work with....I highly recommend them.

John Page had my new LPE motor waiting when I dropped the car off and they completed the entire job in 4 days! The mechanics were first-rate! I liked everyone there professionally and personally.

LPE also has a great warranty (I think recently extended to 3 years/36,000 miles). I'm extremely pleased with the LPE 403 package and the other modifications they made. I think the forged-component 403 or 427 package is the way to go. I've had no problems and the cars' performance is flat awesome....as others have told me...it's a 'Beast.'

Don't tell me wife but I'm already thinking about a couple more things I might want to do. I'll be heading back to 21st Century Muscle Cars.
