Default Exhaust question

Need some advise. have 2006 z51. Installed headers with corsa sports. Car is a little too loud. Sorry --I'm older!!!. How should I proceed to quiet it down a little? Dealer said to go back to stock mufflers and I won't have to reprogram. (I have a blackwing airbox also). I DO want some sound as I thought the stock exhaust was too tame. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Go to the Corsa Touring...same rear "cans" but there are added resonators at the forward end of the H-Pipe......should not have to do any reprogramming.

Unless he has shorty headers, that won't work. LT's have their own x-pipe. My suggestion is to put the stock mufflers back on and see how you like it. If it's too quiet, get the Borla Touring.

Put the stock cat back on. The LT's will provide slightly more sound than you had when completely stock.

This is the way my car is setup now.

I am 42 and have the Headers with Corsa Sports.

As long as you are running the catted midpipe it is not too loud EXCEPT when you get in to it.

Otherwise it is pretty tame except for some popping and burbling.

Do yourself a favor, let somebody drive your car and you follow them with your windows down and listen to your exhaust.

I did this yesterday and I was amazed at how great my car sounded.

Before you take the Corsa Sports off, get the car up on a lift and check all clearances around the pipes. I thought mine were too loud too. Then the thought occured to me to check clearances. I noticed that one of the pipes was touching the side of the frame where it passes over the rear axle. I moved it over a half inch and its like night and day. You would not believe how much sound transfers into the interior of the car. In fact the body of the car acts like an amplifier. Another tell tale sign that it could be touching somewhere is your Corsa tips may be slightly out of alignment. Now that I moved the pipe a little, the tips are perfectly aligned too. Good luck.

Most header x-pipes are 3". The resonators are 2 1/2.
