Default 160 Thermostat

Guys, help me understand this. Many have said that changing to a 160 thermo has resulted in measurable increased horsepower. How does this work, and, will a lower stat in itself really make an hp difference? Thanks

NO..stat will not increase hp

it will however lower operating temp of the engine (combined with a tuner having the fans come on earlier) which in turn you will see more hp from the car running slightly cooler

The tuner will also adjust timing retard and some other parameters which will give you a noticealble increase in power. A CAI, 160 stat and a tune from Corvettes of Westchester took me to 365 RWHP.
