Has anyone seen headers that have been ceramic coated in black? With all the black plastic stuff under the hood, I thought it might look good. Thoughts?? Kevin
I have seen the Flat Black Headers before, and it causes your eyes to look elsewhere in the engine compartment.
To me...It looks like a set of old crappy cheap headers that are painted black until you use them, then it instantly burns off, and they rust up. Similar to Flowtech Headers....
done properly, they won't burn off. I had mine (for my 240z) done by Chris at www.cecoatings.com . They were extremely rusty before hand, and came out great considering the shape.
He coats the insides of the pipes as well as the outside, and with a tumbler and the proper media, polishes them inside and out. He first did a ceramic silver coat and then applied the black.
